Women send powerful message in Olympic track and field

TOKYO (AP) — They set records everyone saw coming and others that surprised the experts.

They suffered, and battled, and spoke their truth in ways that hadn’t been heard before.

Over nine days at the near-empty Olympic Stadium, the women of track and field delivered a memorable show, both inside the lines and out.

These are some of the athletes who defined the meet in Tokyo: Allyson Felix, Sydney McLaughlin, Sifan Hassan, Raven Saunders, Elaine Thompson-Herah.

Theirs was a sport in need of a good boost, not only because of the year-long delay sparked by the virus, but because no matter when they returned, Usain Bolt would no longer draw eyes to the track simply by showing up.

The women delivered — not so much with the feel-good, dance-a-minute vibe that Bolt brought, but with a series of inspiring performances and messages that showed the heart of their sport was still beating strong.

Rugby today

With a name like Duhan van der Merwe everyone can guess that he a is a South African born professional rugby union player, who plays as a center and wing for Edinburgh Rugby and for the Scotland national rugby union team and currently for the Britishlions.
Today at 18h00 is the tiebreaker between the Springboks and the lions. Hopefully someone will tackle the arrogant prick very hard and bring him down to earth.
Hope i dont lose my money.

Game 104 [ MLB.

Tag. } Best record in AL vs. Best record in the Show.

Or , the team scoring the most runs vs. the club allowing the fewest runs.
1st round goes to Mission Control who treated the SF crowd to plan 9 from outer space..
Featuring 5 RBIs from Altuve..2 HRs...one of which was cranked with 3 other astro nots on base.
.. Houston arguably would have the best record already, but for reasons known only to himself, Dusty Baker has lost about 5 games for his employer..
Graveman ! Ultimate name for a closer....
..When Dusty replaced him in the 9th... Houston again flirted with bullpen dis Aster.
Not much interest in MLB here....agreed, it's tough to watch ,since so many pro Athletes have made a willful decision to be UN professional.
If interested, see the Eisen show interview where the Angel mgr. Answers the Q.."what is it like to see & manage Shohei Ohtani ? ..The answer occupies about 15 minutes of relevant material...in which we gather there is NO one in the past we may use as a reference point. Just look at Shohei at the plate...
He waits for the right pitch...patiently...
When he sees it & hits it...it is a sound like a cannon.
... And now, to prepare a more scientific account of everything under the Sun....r a n g e.[ 4.

The Cleveland Guardians

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland MLB team officially has its new name.

The team announced Friday morning that it will be changing its name from the Cleveland Indians to the Cleveland Guardians through a video posted to its Twitter account. The name will begin to go into effect following the conclusion of the 2021 season.

“We are excited to usher in the next era of the deep history of baseball in Cleveland,” team owner and chairman Paul Dolan said through the team’s press release. “Cleveland has and always will be the most important part of our identity. Therefore, we wanted a name that strongly represents the pride, resiliency and loyalty of Clevelanders.

“‘Guardians’ reflects those attributes that define us while drawing on the iconic Guardians of Traffic just outside the ballpark on the Hope Memorial Bridge. It brings to life the pride Clevelanders take in our city, and the way we fight together for all who choose to be part of the Cleveland baseball family. While ‘Indians’ will always be a part of our history, our new name will help unify our fans and city as we are all Cleveland Guardians.”

Progressive Field looms in the background when facing the 43-foot “Guardians of Traffic” that have stood tall for nearly 100 years on the Hope Memorial Bridge. These sculptures are meant to symbolize progress, a concept that’s now trickling over to the city’s baseball team.

Cleveland first announced last summer that it would begin having conversations with local community members and Native American groups about the possibility of a name change. The organization announced in December that it was beginning a search for its fifth name in franchise history -- and first change since 1915.

“Since the announcement to change the name in December, our team has been hard at work to ensure we pick a name that our community, fans, partners, employees and players will be proud to have represent Cleveland Baseball,” Cleveland’s president of business operations Brian Barren said in a press release. “Through our research and discussions, we identified a few key themes that were most important to fans -- connect to the city of Cleveland, honor our rich baseball history and unite our community -- and we believe Guardians upholds all three of those pillars.”

This research included approximately 1,200 nickname options, 40,000 fans surveyed and 140 hours dedicated to interviewing those fans, community leaders and front office personnel. What ultimately was decided was to begin a new chapter with some sense of continuity.

What happens to girls after a long period of fitness

I think the body lines are more obvious. I was just thin before, and it was still far away from the lordosis and back warping. The easiest thing for girls to overlook when shaping is that they always feel that they will be stunned when they practice their shoulders. In fact, this is not the case. The sturdy waist is caused by high body fat, not by muscles. Therefore, it is recommended that young ladies who have this illusion use more grease. The sculpted sisters boldly and confidently practice as long as the trapezius muscles are not stretched (not shrugging), usually a little line can be seen on the shoulder at three months. Right-angled shoulders are like walking clothes racks, okay? It is highly recommended for girls to practice shoulders. Very, very good-looking in clothes, very very good-looking, and undressing

After a year or two of fitness, I went to practice fighting.

His physical strength and endurance are even explosive, not losing to boys (learned through actual combat)

Your body can compete with someone who is three or four levels older than yourself

I think this is the most obvious change that fitness has brought me apart from appearance.

And these changes are all obtained through the accumulation of hard work.

Fitness-oriented

Sisters must master the method before practicing.

I used to think that running is a way to keep fit and the leg shape of running is ugly, but now I can hardly repair it after so many years.

Conor McGregor down by a leg...

The fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor was stopped when the left leg of McGregor broke!
He was carried out of a Las Vegas Octagon on Saturday night with his leg in a splint.
Is his career over? His mouth didn't think so!

Working hard..... at having fun.

After a very nice weekend, I rolled out of bed this morning and got changed for my playoff game
in the fast pitch league.

Last week we lost the first of a best of 3 series, despite having all our good hitters and fielders there.
So, this game and the next one are crucial,
if we want to continue on to the championship series, which of course we do.

I was very aggravated during our loss. Indeed, the other good players were aggravated too.
Our manager is a very nice guy, but unfortunately an idiot.
Plus, he found a sponsor for the team, so we don't pay anything to play. thumbs up

Nonetheless, the whole year I have been complaining about our line-up.
1/2 of our team is made up over very good hitters and about 2/5 of it are people who should have
retired from softball over a decade ago, and the rest are somewhere in between.

Our very nice coach wants everyone to play and his idea is to
also distribute the bad hitters evenly throughout the line-up.
What this does is kill just about every rally.

I have been preaching, "NO ! You want to bunch the hitters together, so that we score runs."
His retort is that, "then some innings we will have no chance to score runs."
I said, "the way you do the line-up, we have little chance to score runs every inning.
That's why we only scored 1 run the whole game."

So, he threw the book down and said, "you think you know better, you do it and lets see what happens."

What happened this morning is we scored 3 runs in the first inning and went on to win 9 to 4 against that same team and that was without having one of our best hitter/fielder. tongue

In Historic First, WNBA Player Comes Out As Straight

PORTLAND, OR—In a development that many are calling the most stunning and brave thing to ever happen in the world of sports, a WNBA point guard has come out as heterosexual.

The player, Megan Frederickson, has been playing for the Portland Fire for the last four years. She's broken many records over her short career, becoming the first player to score three baskets in a game, the first player to go over sixty seconds without a total air ball, and the first player to play a whole game without bursting into tears. She even got a record twelve fans to tune in to one of her games.

But now, she's shattering her most significant barrier yet, becoming the first out heterosexual player in the league.

Frederickson came out to her fans and teammates in an emotional video posted to TikTok Thursday.

"I was staring at myself in the mirror and I suddenly realized I just can't hide who I am anymore," she said. "I have to be true to myself. I can't pretend to be a lesbian anymore just because it's what's expected of me. I'm sick of this homonormative culture in this league. It's time for me to really be me."

Frederickson's wife is broken up but says she understands and supports the player's choice to live out her truth in a heterosexual relationship.

CNN is currently combing through her social media history looking for old racist tweets.

OLYMPICS 2021 .....

will this years olympic games be a farce ????,,
why is this the case ,,,well how can transgender athletes compete on a level playing field ????
..world records have always been in two categories ,,ie ,,,mens and womens ,
men competing in womens track and field events will always have a huge advantage ,,that is because the body mass and structures dictate this ,,
the results at the end of the games will show this to be true no doubt about that ,,
i do not have any misgivings about transgender ,,, do as you please in my book ,,but leave sport to what it is and always has been ,,,,,,,
