With over 4m students from 1 to 12 grades and about 10,000 schools of all both Protestant and Catholic faith.....I cannot think of faith related school shooting in the US.
While in the public school system......Columbine, Sandy Cove, and number of incidents have occurred.
Even Liz has to say that there this more than mere good fortune. For 10K schools and 4m Christian students in the last decade not to have a event....were you have had over 3,000 school days at each of those 10,000 schools.

OH I know those attacks were all because Communist birth control policies....The rural farmers were angry for only being allowed one child to birth. But the Chinese government is so closed, they will never say it.
I answered that in a earlier post. The armed guard was in the parking lot in a patrol car. He and another engaged....actually fired rounds at the two attackers. That altered thier plan and likely kept them from setting off the bombs that they had brought to the school.
Virgina Tech is a spread out campus of 2600 arces. So you have armed campus and police coming into the shooting area. But finding one man on a large campus of many building, is not easy.
The armed security guard needs to be at the point of the attack or as close to it as possible.
But I disagree.....armed security guards have been used for 100s of years in Europe and in the US. Most often it was to protect a bank or precious metal shipment. But are not our children....our real treasure?
If they are, can we protect them any less than we do a bank or gold shipment?

After the Gabby Gifford shooting by Jarel Loughner, part of my former job (now retired) is to look at the motives and foreign connections when a attack occur on US Government parties. Gabby Gifford was in the US Federal Government. So I did a preliminary investigation work up on the shooting.
When I learned of Loughner's Mayan 2012 Prophecy connection. Studied it some. The summary of my report, read as to the following.
"The 2012 Mayan prophecy will only place more pressure on the alternative lifestyle community. More pressure to either be part of the Mayan 2012 event or to elevate the pain and death that the event will cause. We can expect more of these kinds of attack, the closer we get to the December 21,2012 date." That report was sent to the White House about two weeks after the Loughner attack.
If Sandy Cove Elementary was the only tragic mass murder that had connection to the December 21, 2012 pressured alternative community. Then we were fortunate. This could have been much worse.
Someone gave me a $6.50 cuban cigar for X-Mas before the Mayan 12/21/2012 date. I saved it to smoke after prophecy had come and gone. Tonight I am going to light this baby up with a nice glass of wine. From my experience in a country of 308m, you are going to have Loughers, Holmes, and Lanza's. Just in the past they had Billy the Kid, the James Brothers and other gunslingers and fast guns.

Had a armed guard been at the Chinese school's, I doubt if either would have happened.
So there are other ways than by only gun, that a mass murder can occur. But in all of them, the gun held by a trained security guard can either stop the attack or minimize it.
You all talk about 'even playing fields' and all that. Having a unarmed security guard is like tying a boxer's hand behind him and asking him to go into the ring to fight Mike Tyson. He will go into the ring and come out of the ring just as fast.
If you are going to "trust" police and sherriff in society with weapons to defend society. Then it seems to me that 'trust' them in the school situation as well. Train them for the school situation. But allow them the resources (e.g. Gun) to do the job.
We should have a debate (and laws) on screening of mentally unstable from guns and explosives. On large number magazine and assault rifles.
It is going to take a multi prong response to the make our schools safe again. jmo

The US has over 350,000,000 guns. Could a gun ban ever locate and recover all of them? That is pretty impractical as well.
One local school district has already placed a funding request for 81 new security guards for elementary schools here. Not sure if they are to be armed or not.
So if we are going to place security guards in the schools.....

The people in Newhouse are going to Christian Churches....praying to a loving heavenly Father..seeking solace from him....and asking for prayers from the country to a loving heavenly father and his son the Lord Jesus Christ for mercy on their lost children and adult staff of Sandy Hook elementary.
They are not going to a Mosque....and praying to Alla. They not seeking some Gothic god for this solace. They are not seeking providence and guidance from the progressive liberals talk show host or academic that got God removed from their schools in the first place.
Here you have this vast tragedy of pain and death.....and the community is turning to a thier beliefs in a loving God, and his son.

Now Sandy Hook elementary lone gun man assault does not merit some global conspriracy to disrupt American or the world's Christian holidays. But the magnitude of these other events.....and leaders that made them happen during the holiday season does merit some thought by all.
What else that merit thought and respect at this time. Is the grieving parents and families at New House, CN. They are turning their Christian faith and beliefs for this solace at a time of great pain. So I challenge you that don't share those faiths.....just be quiet for a time and be respectful to them.
