I arrived in this country over sixty years ago, a British child with fair skin.
I frolicked on the beach after school and onward through my teenage years, we would slather ourselves in coconut oil and basically fry in the sun, but boy, did we have a great tan
Absolutely no education around sun protection so many of us are paying the price now.
In fact, my understanding is that our northern neighbours in the tropical state of Queensland record more deaths from skin cancer than road accidents.
Thank you for sharing your journey with me, it's much appreciated
I join you in your cancer battle as I underwent invasive melanoma surgery in 2020 and attended a skin cancer clinic for 3 monthly skin checks for twelve months afterwards, which was then reduced to six monthly checks. My last one revealed a concerning mole which I had excised on Wednesday; it's a little uncomfortable at present but I'm feeling optimistic that pathology results will show a good result.
I personally find Pedro's threads a little flippant, probably drawing from internet searches while under the influence of alcohol rather than life experience.
While he has shared his mental health journey on here, which is to be applauded, I often find his threads self indulgent and self pitying.
Wishing you all the very best for your own journey Miss and send you hugs and positivity
I placed a bird bath at the front of my property a few years ago I have a spot where I sit, partially screened by a shrub, and love watching birds of all kinds coming down to have a drink and a splash Especially late afternoon and into the evening, at the end of long hot days like we have been experiencing over recent months. Magpies, parrots, doves, Noisy Miners, kookaburras, butcher birds, wattle birds (all native species) and Indian Mynas which are introduced. I try to remember to fill the bath with fresh water daily and find this is much appreciated
Yes I should have considered my question more carefully before posting
It was triggered by a situation that had just popped up and I mused on the whole apartment-living aspect in general which then morphed into dogs being shut indoors on their own for lengthy periods
Which I agree isn't right, regardless of the building type.
There's been some well thought out responses here, thank you
I think this depends on where people are in their lives
A conversation between 20 year olds would be different to those in their 30s, 40s and so on.
Younger people may be following their careers and maybe thinking about starting a family at some point; people my age may be simply looking for companionship.
But I think generally, it's best to be open about our hopes and dreams when conversing with others in terms of dating so as not to mislead
