Even as a native English speaker, these double meanings of the same word have always driven me crazy! laugh I myself have looked at things in the English language that, if taken literally, would make no sense if I were learning English as a second language. They make sense to me only because I was raised to understand them in a given context.

Your list is very impressive. Did you copy it, or come up with it yourself?

I am an American English teacher in Turkey. I know that it is soooo difficult to learn this language, it is also difficult to teach it because of the reason you wrote and other spelling problems. But it is important to learn English so you need to keep trying. Other languages are also difficult for us to learn :)))))

Not only different meanings, but often the words are pronounced differently. But it is is not unique to English - it is, if anything, even more pronounced in French.
