Well today has been a lovely day. It's been sunny and warm so I went for another walk to Saltdean. I took some more photos which will be posted on my next day off. I also had another picnic. You may remember that in yesterdays blog I mentioned that my son had been for a job interview at the restaurant where I work. On Wednesday he has his orientation where he has to take his bank details, birth certificate and National Insurance card. All exciting stuff. This will be his first job. As a parent I feel a tremendous sense of pride and excitement for him. He has been looking for part time work for more than a year now and I'm also grateful to my boss for giving him this chance. So not just a lovely day--an absolutely fantastic day. Have a good evening/day everyone.

At last I'm now able to load the photos.

Remember last week when I had problems loading the photos? Well a couple of days after I posted the blog it occurred to me that when my son had rebooted the computer he had forgotton to reinstall the adobe reader. I asked him about this and sure enough he had completely forgotten about it. He's since installed it and now I'm able to up load photos again. When it comes to computers my son knows more than me and I only know about the adobe because he was the one who explained it to me and what it does. When I first heard of the adobe reader I thought it was some kind of computer virus

. My son has assured me it's not. Also today my son went for a job interview at the restaurant where I work. My manager has said he'll see what he can do about giving my son a job. So lets hope he gets it. Have a good evening/day everyone.

Relaxing Day

After working the weekend I decided to relax today and forget the housework. It was pretty busy at work over the weekend. On Saturday I worked a 12 hour shift towards the end of which I had a little accident---I slipped and hit my head on a post whilst taking some rubbish out. I didn't even fall down just carried on walking. The resulting bump on the forehead has now gone down and a small bruise has replaced it. These things happen. I was back at work on Sunday for a 9 hour shift. When I came home from work my son had had to reboot the computer because of a few problems with it slowing down and Norton warning me that a pc cleaner I had installed a few weeks ago was using to many CPUs. I no longer have that pc cleaner on the computer. Earlier this evening I tried downloading some photos onto this site but met with a go slow and the download only going up to a certain per centage before going back to the start again. I gave up. I spent the day walking to Saltdean and back and since it was a nice day I took a picnic. I'm not due in work until Thursday now and will start on the housework tomorrow. It doesn't do any harm having at least one day dedicated to relaxation and nothing else. Have a nice day/evening everyone.

Here are the promised photos.

As promised last week here are some of the photos I took on last Thursday's walk. I'm not too sure what species of bird the little bird is. These birds are very shy and I was lucky to get this and a couple of other photos of this bird using the zoom thingy on my camera. Have a good day/evening everyone.

Age

The reason for the title is that over the past few days I've had two women of my own age coming up to me at work saying that I should be at home with my feet up. Nice of them to be concerned about me. In April I will be 55 and I have no intention of putting my feet up and watching life go by. I enjoy being active, for me being older doesn't mean slowing down it just means that I intend to make the most out of whatever life I have left.
My job isn't just about talking to the customers making sure they're enjoying their meal. It's also about making sure that the restaurant is clean so that the customers can sit and enjoy their meal in a clean environment. This means a lot of walking around, bending down and from time to time stretching. The job is more than earning a wage to make ends meet it's a way to meet new people and make friends. We also have a good laugh at work. When I'm at work I literally come alive. Even when I retire in 10 years time I have no intention of sitting at home watching life go by. I'm going to live an active life and enjoy every single second of it. Living a happy and fulfilling life can be had by everyone regardless of age. Life does not stop just because we get older.

Is there?

Is there a certain type of food that once you start eating you like it so much you've eaten the lot before you've realised it. With me it's two types of biscuits---Jaffa cakes, I just love the chocolate topping with the orange centre and fig rolls. Once I start eating them I eat the every single one in the packet.
