Yesterday I went to visit the Royal Pavillion and went inside. They had an exhibition on called The Forgotten Princess. It was about King George IV's only legitimate child Princess Charlotte. Basically what the write up said about her was that she was born in January 1796 and died in November 1817 shortly after giving birth to a still born son---she was just 21 years old. It also said that she was the Princess Diana of her era and that if she had lived Queen Victoria wouldn't have been born and we would have had a Charlottian era. After her death there was a rush to father a legitimate heir to the throne. Edward, Duke of Kent, fathered the eventual heir---Queen Victoria. Until I went to that exhibition I had never heard of Princess Charlotte. It wasn't just an interesting visit it was an educational one as well. One of the photos is of the Royal Pavillion unfortunately they didn't allow photos to be taken inside the building. The rest of the photos are from this mornings walk. Have a good day/evening everyone.
Hi everyone. It's been a busy couple of weeks or so for me. Overnight shifts and arranging a surprise birthday party for my son who will be 18 on the 29th of this month. I with make his 18th birthday a birthday he won't forget. He will have another surprise on the day---his sister will be flying over from Dublin after she finishes work. She has asked me not to say anything and I won't. What is special about this visit is she will be staying with us for a couple of days. I hope you have a great Christmas. I took the photo of the Robin a couple of weeks ago. It was a rather friendly little bird and didn't seem to mind having it's photo taken.
As I recently mentioned Pepsi, my cat, had to go to the vets for dental work. She had all of her teeth taken out. She has made a good recovery from the dental work. First thing she did when I let her out of the cat carrier was go into the litter tray and then eat all of the food I had put down for her. She's also had lots of cuddles and goes back to the vet on Monday to check that she is healing properly.
Have a good evening/day everyone.
Today I went to visit an infamous beauty spot. I say infamous because over the years Beachy Head has acquired a reputation for being a suicide hot spot and is supposed to be haunted.
The first ghost is that of a monk dressed in black who is said to beckon people over the edge of the cliffs. Legend is that during Henry IIIV's reign this monk was shackled by the King's officials and thrown off the cliff. This legend has never been confirmed as historical fact.
There have also been reports of people seeing the ghost of a woman clutching a baby disappearing over the edge of the cliffs. The story about this ghost isn't known.
It was a windy day today and we did have some heavy showers but despite it's reputation Beachy Head is a beautiful place to visit and I had a lovely time taking photos and having a lovely pub lunch afterwards. On the way there I saw a couple of other places I'd like to visit and since I have a week off work starting 9th September I've already made plans to visit those places. Have a good day/evening everyone.

Hi everyone. I'm on day shifts this week, mainly because I asked for day shifts because I have my hospital appointment this week. The over night shifts were interesting. It was quiet apart from Saturday night which meant that I could get on with the cleaning. On Saturday night a group of young people came in all of them a bit drunk and had a food fight in an area I had just cleaned. This did not please my manager at all. Then after they had gone another group came in also drunk kicking over the wet floor signs I had put out because I was washing the floor. Again the manager wasn't happy. As I pointed out to her they were the ones who would suffer hangovers not us. I din't see the point in getting upset about it as they're only young people letting off steam and most off us have been there done that etc. Anyway it was a change from the normal routine. The only draw back is that I now feel exhausted because I didn't sleep well during the day. So I'm off to bed shortly to try and catch up on my sleep. I hope you like the photos---I walked along the break water to see if I could get any good photos and got these. Have a good day/evening everyone.
Hi everyone. I haven't been on here for a couple of days owing to a couple of overnight shifts and getting used to sleeping during the day. I've got the same sort of shifts this week. Oh well it's new experience
The Windmill photo I took yesterday and the other two today. Have a good day/evening everyone.
Funny Mummy is the title of a book I'm currently reading. It has lists, quotes and stories about children and their mothers. This book has had me giggling and even laughing out loud in the pub to the point where the staff and other customers gave me funny looks. I thought I'd share one of the stories from the book.
'At one point during a football game, the coach says to one of his young players, "Do you understand what cooperation is? Do you understand what a team is?" The little boy nods in the affirmative. "Do you understand," says the coach, "that what matters is whether we win together as a team?" Again the little boy nods yes. "So," the coach continues, "if a goal is disallowed or a penalty is given against you, you don't argue or swear or suddenly attack the referee or linesman. Do you understand that now?" Again the little boy nods. "Excellent," says the coach. "Now please could you go over there and explain all that to your mother."
The book is by Mike Haskins and Clive Whichelow.
Have a good day/evening everyone
