Well today the lady who gave my family 3 turtles came into the restaurant. When she gave them to us I forgot to ask their ages so just took a guess at them being in their teens. A couple of years ago 2 of them died. When I saw her today I took the opportunity to ask the age of the remaining turtle. She told me that her sister had had the turtles first and then passed them onto her mother who in turn passed them onto her until my family were given them nearly 10 years ago. After speaking with her mother who also came into the restaurant they couldn't remember the exact age but put the age at somewhere in it's 20s. She told me that she had expected all 3 turtles to have died by now and was amazed that one has lived so long. My understanding is that some turtle species can live for up to 50 years. The species I've got is from what I've been told is a Red eared Slider.
Here are a couple of photos I took on my walk yesterday. I printed up some photos last night that I'll take to the club with me tomorrow. The first time I've printed up photos. They asked me to take some in so I've printed up a mixture of photos I took in the valley and of my coastal walks. Have a good evening everyone.
Yesterday I sorted out some bags in my room, got rid of quite a bit of rubbish, old, paid bills etc. During the sort out I came across a list I had made in 1998---a list detailing the pets I've had since adulthood. I sat reading that list for a while thinking back to those pets that had passed away, a lot of good memories. There was Sandy, a ginger tom cat whom I took in one 5th November. He had been a stray for a while, my neighbours and myself regularly putting out food for him. His owners had moved house and abandoned him. We had him for 5 months before he became ill and needed treatment. The vet x-rayed him and discovered that at some point during his life as a stray some one had shot him with an air gun. The vet estimated his age at 19 years old. He passed away shortly after that visit. Then there was Snowy1 (there was another Snowy who passed away with cancer last year) who passed away with cancer in 1998, she was another cat who had been abandoned by her owner, we had her for 9 years and Tosca who we got from the local animal shelter who passed away in her sleep, she was 9 years old.
I made another list and was surprised to discover that including the current pets in my life over the past 34 years I have had a total of over 60 pets, this includes some 20 plus tropical fish I now have. All of these pets have enriched the lives of my children and myself so much.
I went to photography club last night and I'm glad I did. I left early because it was in an area that I don't know too well and ended up finding the location quicker than I thought I would. I sat in a near by coffee shop for a few minutes until it opened. As it turned out they were having a meeting to congratulate some members who had gained a qualification. There was an amazing variety of photos there including some of bears in their natural habitat (my favourites). The age range of the members varied from people in their 20s to people in their 60s and over. I found out that every other Thursday they have a meeting for new members to show them how to lay out their photographs and the club even has it's own website where members can display their photos. I had a very enjoyable evening where I talked to a few established members. I have been inspired to get my own printer so that I can print of my own photos and hopefully take my hobby further.
Well I sure am glad I take my camera out with me. These are two photos I took this morning.
The blog I put on earlier about a typo has disappeared. I went to check it after posting my last blog and couldn't find it. It's not even on my blog list.
I liked the look of the cloud formations I saw on the way to The Marina. So when I got off the bus I went straight to the beach and took these photos.
