Enjoyed photography club last night

I went to photography club last night and I'm glad I did. I left early because it was in an area that I don't know too well and ended up finding the location quicker than I thought I would. I sat in a near by coffee shop for a few minutes until it opened. As it turned out they were having a meeting to congratulate some members who had gained a qualification. There was an amazing variety of photos there including some of bears in their natural habitat (my favourites). The age range of the members varied from people in their 20s to people in their 60s and over. I found out that every other Thursday they have a meeting for new members to show them how to lay out their photographs and the club even has it's own website where members can display their photos. I had a very enjoyable evening where I talked to a few established members. I have been inspired to get my own printer so that I can print of my own photos and hopefully take my hobby further.

Excellent ...Sweetkitten4, ....excellent! Proactive.
I like photography too. I bought some software a few months ago (which is already out of date!) but not often used. More complicated than I was anticipating. I take either my Digital Camera or Camcorder out and about with me, just in case I see something interesting to shoot ...rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing !

did you visit the website?wine
I haven't visited the website yet but will shortly Firas. I didn't get home until just after 10.30 last night---at that time of night I prefer to relax and check out new sites the following day. They were talking about going up to Bath to get their photos judged re qualification. I've still got a lot to learn and I intend having fun in learning. Now both of my children are old enough to lead their own lives I've got time on my hands when I'm not working so I might as well do something I enjoy. Who knows where this might lead.
Hi Sweet!

When my daughters were 8 and 12, they took a photography class as part of out homeschool curriculum. They learned so many things, and won awards for their photos. They even made pin hole cameras from oatmeal boxes. I have many of their photos framed and hung on the wall. It does me good, when someone comments on the photo and I can say, My daughter took that when she was 8.
Have fun, be creative, and I hope you'll get to post some of them here.
Sounds like a good idea, joining a club.
You can have fun, learn some things and perhaps make some new friends too. thumbs up
Thank you for your comments. I've checked out their site and it looks interesting. As you say Jim it's a good way of meeting people and I can learn a few things. I have the habit of carrying my camera with me just in case I see something interesting to photograph.

You are right, Liveinhope. Photos do capture one's life at the moment the photo is taken. Which explains why one of my favorite things to do when I visit someone's home is to look around the living room at all the photographs that are normally displayed on peopples' walls, because photos tell the story of the family.

Jim - Years ago, I took a photography class from the local community college. The instructor was a professional photographer who developed the evidence films for the local police department. We had a choice of instruction in picture taking and composition, or the darkroom where we developed photos. I choose the darkroom. It was a lot of fun, and I developed my own black and white photos for several years. My grandpa invented the photographic enlarger ten years before Kodak even thought of making one.

Sweetkitten - You must be talking about the Brighton & Howe Camera Club that meets in the Hove Methodist Church in Howe. It's a nice fun bunch of people, no doubt about it.
