Negative Thinking is Powerful—And Not in a Good Way

Norman Vincent Peale published The Power of Positive Thinking in 1952. But it’s only more recently that we’re learning about the destructive power of negative thinking.

A few years ago, an author cornered me at a publishing conference to complain about his agent, gripe about his publicist, and grumble about his publisher. It was beyond awkward. I tried to change the subject, but he persisted.

Maybe you’ve had a similar experience. I was trapped, and I couldn’t escape!

Some people are relentlessly negative. It’s like they derive their significance from feeling wronged, put upon, and persecuted. You know what it’s like to be around people like this. Everyone is an idiot but them. Nobody can do anything right. Life is rigged.

Whatever satisfaction people get from being negative, I hope it’s enough—because it’s about the only benefit they’re getting. Meanwhile, it’s costing them plenty.

In general, pessimists don’t perform as well in life as optimists, according to psychologist Michael Scheier. They “tend to deny, avoid, and distort the problems they confront, and dwell on their negative feelings,” he says.

And the costs only go up from there. Here are just five ways pessimism can ruin your life:

Pessimism kills your creativity. If we want to thrive in our present economy, it’s critical that we offer creative solutions to difficult problems. But pessimism not only kills your own creativity, as Neil Wadhwa says, it also ends up killing the creativity of those around you.

Pessimism harms you emotionally. Research shows that while positive thinking wears off, negative thinking sticks with us for weeks. We may have to work at staying positive, but going negative is easy. And every time you remember a negative thought, your sense of well-being takes a dive.

Pessimism keeps you down professionally. Negative thoughts are often demotivating and can really impact job performance. If you’re heart’s not in your job, leaders and colleagues will notice. And you’ll watch promotions and other opportunities pass you by.

Pessimism damages relationships. As the saying goes, perception is reality. If you’re always thinking and communicating the worst, you’ll turn people off and drive them away. Instead of growing closer, they’ll start looking for excuses to be someplace else with somebody different.

Pessimism makes you sick. You’ve heard of the placebo effect. Researchers have also documented what they call the “nocebo effect.” When we think we’ll get sick, we tend to actually do so. Negative thinking not only drives up our stress levels, it also can lead to heart attacks and other serious health problems, including dementia.

It’s popular to promote counter-intuitive reasons pessimism can be helpful to us. But here’s the truth. I’ve never met a single leader or entrepreneur who was both pessimistic and successful. Why? Negaholics just aren’t up for what it takes to win.

I finally got free from my pessimistic author friend. I saw an opportunity and ran. I felt immediate relief. His negative attitude wasn’t doing me any favors. It wasn’t doing him any favors either.

JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD!

God calls His Own Son the Word, His Word to us. What is a word? A word is a means of communication. A word is something that you say. It means something. What is the Word of God?--Jesus!

God wanted to show the world His Love.--So what did He do? You can't see Love, you can't see God, so He sent His Word! He said it in Jesus! He showed it in Jesus! He expressed it in Jesus! He communicated it in Jesus! Jesus was all of that! He was the expression of God's Love, He was the meaning of God's Love, He was the communication of God's Love, He said God's Love, He showed God's Love, He symbolized God's Love, He manifested God's Love! He was God's Own Message of Love to us.

The first thing St. John says in His Gospel is: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made" (Jn.1:1-3). It seems that only John really grasped the deepest and greatest meaning of Jesus, that Jesus was the Word of God, the Expression of God, the Love of God, as well as the Son of God! Jesus was most of all the Word of God!

But all of that time, tiny bands of true Christians, united only in love, the Spirit and the Word, managed to survive by the Grace of God throughout the world despite every attempt to stamp them out, every effort to burn their Bibles and destroy their numbers through torture, intimidation and martyrdom. They had no central leadership but the ever-present prophets of God; no formal organization but the unity of the Spirit; no common bond but His Love; and no doctrine but His Word. And yet they have survived until this day despite every effort to crush them and liquidate them, and completely exterminate them!

Millions of Christians have suffered and been persecuted and been slaughtered for their faith, and yet there are more millions of people with faith in God today than ever, in fact billions!--And always have been and always will be!--Praise God?--Hallelujah!

God Does Something New

When Jesus rose from the dead, His resurrection was the first phase of God’s new creation, a new kind of existence—a human body was transformed by the power of God into one that is no longer affected by death, decay, and corruption. Nothing like this had ever happened! “We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over Him.”1

His risen body wasn’t a spirit; it was physical, which His followers could touch. He taught them,2 walked with them,3 cooked for them,4 and ate with them.5 He was once together with 500 of them at one time.6 After 40 days,7 He ascended into heaven,8 where He sits at the right hand of God.9

As Christians, we too are part of God’s new creation. We can look forward to the time when Jesus will return and raise our bodies as well.10 The apostle Paul speaks about our bodies raised from death in terms of a seed that is planted, and from which the more complete plant grows.11 He goes on to explain that these new bodies will be imperishable, raised in glory and power as spiritual bodies.12

Being imperishable means our bodies will not have the weaknesses they have now. They won’t be affected by aging, sickness, or weariness as they are today. As one author wrote, “In these resurrection bodies we will clearly see humanity as God intended it to be.”13

When a person receives Jesus as their Savior, God’s Spirit comes to dwell within them and they are renewed and regenerated. Renewal is a renovation, a change in the believer for the better. Regeneration is the production of a new life consecrated to God, a radical change of mind. “When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.”14

As part of the new creation, God’s Spirit changes us, helping us to put on the mind of Christ, as we develop and reflect some of God’s characteristics by growing in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.15

And that’s why we have so much to celebrate!—That God dwells in us and helps, guides, and renews us; that we are part of His new creation; that we will live eternally in our new bodies, with perfect health and no aging, sickness, or disease. This is the good news of the Gospel: the love that God has for each individual, the offer of everlasting life, of resurrection from the dead, of being a new creature in Christ Jesus today and a part of the overall new creation for eternity.

The Christian panel are sweetly trying to keep “Christian Unity.” Of course “Christian unity” is not necessarily the same thing as “Here by shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye love one another”, nor Jesus prayer that we all shall be ONE with Him and the Father.

Even Paul disagreed with Peter tremendously, but it seems from Scripture that Peter meekly accepted Paul’s correction. Paul at other times was definitely out of sorts with his friend Barnabas that his argument got so heated that they split apart. Paul was a fighter for what he believed in, and it took that kind of man to keep the early rot out or at least in check from an early church.

Hope you enjoyed that as much as I did. I enjoyed it as this is my field and even though I hate to identify myself as a YEC because of philosophical reasons not to be a reactionary to Darwinist lies, I know there is no leg to stand on for OEC. Old Eearth Darwnists would disagree of course, because of their religious beliefs.

I tend to agree with Stephen Meyer that the first thing to support is the existence of God, and I love to use Intelligent Design as a tool, especially DNA is a great witnessing tool to help young people believe, if they were stumbled by Darwinists or Atheists.

But I think that History is a neglected field of proof where as more and more evidence is actually appearing from that quarter like the “scientificality” of the Flood, the causes of the Flood, Flood geology, Astronomy supporting the age of the pyramids and the early Egyptians and Sumerians having mapped the stars and the earth, as shown by the prehistoric maps like Piri Reis and others.

As well as the REAL timing of the Ice Age as proven by proper Euhemerist dating of the sinking of the Bronze Age ruins by the Ice Age melting all over the world around 1500 BC, acc. to many historical legends (like the Mahabharata), seed research by Finkelstein, and much more evidence –as seen in our many articles on the subject– which makes Darwinians cringe inside and even drop that (sunken ruins) part of the conversation and drop the research as a hot potatoe! It is so convincing, that even New Age historians, like Hancock for example, become obvious Darwinian compromisers effectively.

Flood geology has become so much stronger through the research in Colorado University proving that the “Evolutionary” Geological Time Scale” is way too long – 99 % too long! (See our post on that in search)

I tend to agree with the last speaker about believers being embarrassed or intimidated by the Darwinian propaganda machine. I also agree with him that the Word of God speaks for itself about the approximate Age of the Earth, but also with Stephen Meyer that it is the last reasoning we should use in conversation with unbelievers!

Nobody doubts the timing of Jesus 4 BC – 30 AD. No one doubts the Babylonian captivity around 600 BC. Few Christians doubt the time of David around 1000 BC. And few Christians doubt the approximate timing of the Exodus around 1400 BC (give or take) or the timing of Abraham around 2000 BC.

The timing of the Flood however, is of course not that obvious or clear, even in Scripture, and there are several different estimates ranging from before 3000 BC up to around 2345 BC. However the Flood — no matter what the exact date may be– is still a great tool to lead people to a proper new ‘time paradigm instead of the failing “millions of years” mindset! The Flood has many arguments in store to win people over to faith in Genesis, which is very important in the longer run, as it theoretically could stumble Darwinian trained believers — which most of us were– from believing Genesis believing Jesus Himself!

Attack! - Face Your Fears - Final

17. THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A WAR WHICH IS NOT WON OR LOST! You're either winning or losing! And if you're not winning it, you're losing it!

18. IT'S ALMOST LIKE A SIEGE OF A CITY in olden days. Sometimes the city would last several years--a city surrounded entirely by the enemy's armies, cut off from the rest of the World, from reinforcements & supplies which finally dwindled down to nothing, in food, manpower & ammunition, & became so weak, while the enemy just sat there & patiently waited & didn't even have to attack--because the city wasn't attacking!

19. YOU GET WEAK FROM SITTING STILL! YOU GET WEAK FROM DOING NOTHING, as the church has for generations now. You become totally incapable of even defending yourself, much less launching an attack, while the Enemy gets stronger & stronger from one attack after another--from action, aggression, movement, invasion! You become weakened by a false sense of security, behind barred gates & closed doors & blinded eyes & the desire just to hold on to what you have without gaining any ground!

20. YOU CAN BE DESTROYED BY DEFENDING, INSTEAD OF ATTACKING! NEVER LET YOURSELF GET PUT ON THE DEFENSIVE! Never let THEM do all the talking, ask all the questions, give all the answers! Sock it to them with the Word of God! Survey their condition, find the chinks in their armour, the weakness in their defense, then launch the attack with the Sword of the Spirit! Don't let them put YOU on the defensive or you're doomed to defeat!

21. SURE, WE'LL HAVE CASUALTIES! Sure, we'll have losses! Sure, we'll have wounds!--But we'll win, because we cannot lose! It's impossible, for God is with us! And we're on the offensive! We're moving! We're attacking! We're active! We're DOING something, getting things done!--ACTING, not just talking!--SAMPLES, not just Sermons!--ACTIVISTS, not just theorists!--Converting, changing, conquering!

22. ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS FOR OUR SUCCESS HAS BEEN OUR WILLINGNESS TO FACE THE FACTS, to tell it like it is & know where it's at!--To refuse to continue to drift along in that dream-world of religion, but to stand like a tree against the storm, like a rock against the floods, & then to move to the attack!

23. WE'VE FACED THE FACTS, FACED THE FEARS & DECLARED WAR ON HYPOCRISY--war on their lies--war on their deceptions & delusions--& we are determined to destroy, to cast down, to uproot that which is false!--Actively!--Offensively!--That the Lord may plant & build the Truth & His True Church in its place! Hallelujah! "Onward Christian Soldiers, marching in His War, with the Cross of Jesus, going on before!"

24. HE'S TAKING THE WEAK THINGS TO CONFOUND THE MIGHTY, & the things which are not as though they were! He's made something out of nothing--you & me! "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit!" "Not of works" but "by grace through faith", & the gates of Hell shall not prevail against us! Hallelujah!

25. LET'S GO! ATTACK! YOU CAN'T LOSE, because they don't know how to fight! They don't have the right kind of weapons & they aren't facing the facts! They don't know the Truth!

26. FACE THE ENEMY! ATTACK HIM! "Resist the Enemy & he'll flee from thee!" Praise God! Face the fear of Man in the power of His Spirit on the promises of His Word & you cannot fail! Praise God!

Attack! Pt. 2 - Face Your Fears!

9. YOU HAVE TO FIND OUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REALITY & THE IMAGINARY--the Truth & the lie--because if it is reality, it doesn't do any good to try to tell yourself it isn't there--to just shut your eyes & hope it goes away, & when you open them again you'll find out it didn't exist--it was just your imagination!--And in that case, the best thing in the World to do is to face it & take some kind of action & do something about it to eliminate the danger by taking the initiative & launching an attack!

10. AS ANY MILITARY STRATEGIST KNOWS, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO WIN A DEFENSIVE WARFARE! Defensive war is doomed to defeat! To win a war you have to launch an attack--you HAVE to go on the offensive! You HAVE to set him back on his heels! You HAVE to take the initiative! You HAVE to be positive! YOU have to attack & invade & overpower! You can't just sit there & try to ward him off while HE attacks & invades or he'll finally overpower YOU.

THIS IS WHY COMMANDO & GUERILLA WARFARE IS SO SUCCESSFUL, even with such few numbers & very little manpower.--By sudden surprise attacks in unexpected places & weak spots in the enemy's armour you can do a lot of damage! You can hit & run before the enemy even knows what happened--before he even has a chance to retaliate. You can choose the time & place of attack, with lightning strikes, & disappear as quickly as they appeared, like little David with Goliath.--One little guerilla defied a whole army, like Gideon & his little band, a bunch of guerillas who defied a whole army; like Jonathan & his armour-bearer, a couple more guerrillas who defied a whole army! And boy, if you've got God with you, you're unbeatable, no matter how small you are! Jonathan said, in that particular attack of his, "God is not limited by few or by many!"--1Samuel 14:6.

12. SO IT PAYS TO FACE YOUR FEARS, recognise they're there, decide between the real & the unreal, the Truth & the lie, & go to the attack to dispel the vaporous fiction of the fairy tale & to drive away the genuine reality of real threat!

13. WE'RE IN A SPIRITUAL WARFARE, & our weapons are not carnal but spiritual--mighty to the tearing down of strongholds! This is a picture of your attacking the strongholds of the Enemy & ripping them apart, destroying the opposition! Jesus said of the Church, in Matthew 16:18, "The gates of Hell shall not prevail (withstand) against it!"

14. THE PICTURE IS NOT OF THE CHURCH STANDING FAST BEHIND ITS CLOSED DOORS WHILE ALL HELL ATTACKS, but the picture Christ painted was of HELL trembling behind ITS closed doors, while the CHURCH was in an all-out ATTACK against Hell's gates, which were collapsing & crumbling under the weight of the power of God through His Church!

15. JUST LIKE YOU DO WHEN YOU GO OUT WITNESSING--right on the Devil's ground--right into HIS strongholds! YOU'RE launching the attack, YOU'RE picking its time & place, YOU'RE taking the initiative, you're overwhelming the Enemy by surprise & suddenness & often he doesn't even know what happened until it's all over! You've come, you've struck him, you've wounded him & you've carried off some of his prey before he had a chance to get organised or retaliate or call the cops or decide what to do about you--because you came, you saw, you conquered!--And you hit him so hard he didn't have a chance to recover until you were already gone!

16. THE ENEMY NEVER KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO NEXT! He doesn't know what kind of a shenanigan you're going to pull next and you've put him on the defensive! He rocks and reels from sudden blow after sudden blow, so that he has no time to organise an attack on you, he's too busy defending himself! In this way, tiny guerilla forces and commando units can keep an entire numerically-superior conventional army at bay, and an army continually on the defensive will never get anywhere!

Attack! Pt. 1 - Face Your Fears!

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

1. FEAR IS A VERY INTERESTING SUBJECT!--It's a lot of amazing things! And you don't realise so much of it is subconscious until you try to put it in words & try to analyse it! I suppose being afraid to talk about your fears is one of the worst fears of all, because to confess your fears is really to expose your innermost self--the part you hide from everybody--even those dearest to you!--In fact, the part you're even trying to hide from yourself, because you're afraid to think about it. You don't even want to confess it to yourself that you're afraid because that would be admitting you're a coward, & you don't want to confess you're a coward for fear of being exposed, I guess!

2. I GUESS IT'S KIND OF LIKE A DISEASE: You can't very well find the CURE unless you confess you HAVE the disease & you reveal the SYMPTOMS. It's one of those secret, dirty diseases that you're ashamed to confess you have, because you know it's the result of sin. Because if you're honest, you know your fears are results of doubts, & usually your doubts are the results of disobedience or feared disobedience or failures--feared failures, past failures or possible future failures!

3. AND I THINK THE FEAR OF FAILURE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE GREATEST FEARS anybody could possibly have!--The fear of failure in life, love, labor & the Lord! If you're failing God, I think that's one of the worst for a Christian. And it's perhaps second only, I think, to the fear of failing others, because you KNOW that GOD will forgive you, but others find it hard to forgive! The fear of hurting them because of your failure, fear of letting them down, disappointing them, hurting their faith, disillusioning them, discouraging them--the fear that because of your failure others will fail too!--This is hardest to bear! It's the kind of thing you don't even want to admit to yourself!

4. THE FEAR OF FAILING YOURSELF is least of all! Really, in a way, it's a fear of the truth about yourself! But now here's where it pays to FACE your fears, because you have to draw a line of distinction by facing them--between that which is the TRUTH & those fears which are the LIES of the Devil!

5. I'LL NEVER FORGET WHEN I WAS A KID ABOUT 12, DELIVERING HANDBILLS, & I had to go into a certain yard to get to a house in the rear, & out from the back yard came this huge Great Dane, barking & growling furiously & coming at me full speed, leaping & bounding, & I thought, "This is it!" But I knew I didn't dare turn my back on him or he would bite me for sure, yet on the other hand, he was a little too big for me to face & I was invading HIS territory!

6. SO I THANK GOD I REMEMBERED TO CRY OUT TO THE LORD, & I did something that I've even tried since then with people!--I suddenly jutted my hand out toward him & I yelled, "I rebuke you in Jesus' name!"--And did he put on the brakes! He skidded to a stop & looked absolutely startled!--And turned tail & ran!

7. SO IT NOT ONLY PAYS TO FACE YOUR FEARS & TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEM--even confess them--but to take a positive stand against them, especially in the power & Spirit of the Lord with the promises from His Word!

8. IT DOESN'T PAY TO TRY & SAY THERE'S NO DEVIL & NO DEMONS & NO SUCH THING AS EVIL, sin or sickness & just try to ignore the facts! It would be like trying to ignore that you have a disease when you've really got it, because as long as you have it & try to hide it, you can't very well find the remedy!

True faith, the kind that can stand any test, the kind that works miracles and the kind that lasts, are built on the solid rock foundation of His Truth!

Down In The Salt Mines

We went down 378 spiraling steps into the Wieliczka Salt Mine in southern Poland, wondering what we would find and thinking about how easy it would be to get lost in the underground maze around us. I marveled at how anyone could spend so much of their life underground and retain their sanity.

As we passed through various chambers, we were shown sculptures in the salt. Hundreds of years ago, some anonymous miner in the depths of the earth saw the candlelight reflected in the salt and realized that it could be a wonderful medium for carving. Perhaps he dreamed of being an artist like Leonardo da Vinci or Michelangelo. Maybe he spent his lunch or after-work hours creating his own masterpiece, one that would never be on display in a sumptuous museum or sunlit cathedral. It would only serve to inspire other miners like himself. Perhaps he hoped that in the deep he could show them the way to God. Eventually, others began to carve as well.

Four hundred forty-three feet beneath the surface of the earth, the miners created a chapel. On the walls, they depicted the life of Jesus, from the nativity to the resurrection. Maybe they realized that they desperately needed God’s protection and care as they entered the forbidding darkness.

Who would have thought that light shining on salt would cause it to gleam like marble? Who could imagine that men who do such manual labor would have time and inspiration to create masterpieces? Our guide invited us to test the acoustics, reputed to be some of the best in the world, and told us how people still bring their children into the salt mines if they have asthma or allergies to benefit from the healing power of the salty air.

After an elevator ride back to the surface, I continued thinking about the salt mine. I’m not a sculptor, artist, or composer, but it’s important to me that I am able to create something through my writing. Whatever you do can become something that will inspire others.

Life is not all sunlight and blue skies. Even in the dark places, a tiny candle can lead us to find our purpose. The sweat and tears won’t last, but the beauty we create in the spaces of our lives can live on and enlighten someone else’s darkness.

The Lord is so concerned about one soul! The Good Shepherd will follow him out into the hills, into the night and the storm to try to save him. God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. The Lord left the 99 in the fold and went out on the mountainside in the storm to find the lost sheep. He proved His love for even the stray sheep, even one and He's not going to lose one of His sheep.--Not one soul! He's going to save them all in the long run!

No price is too big to pay to save a soul! How can you judge the value of one immortal soul? God valued it so highly that He gave His Own Son to redeem it! To God, just one soul is worth it all, just to free one poor bound soul, one poor tormented spirit from the bondage of Satan.

Help us, Lord, to really long for them and seek for Your lost sheep as the Good Shepherd searches for the sheep that He loves.--As He longs and suffers and yearns and agonizes for it that He may find it and woo it and win it back into the fold. Give us more compassion, Lord, more love, more longing for Thy sheep! Help us, O Lord! May Thy love constrain us! In Jesus' name!--Amen!

Power from God makes possible things that are beyond our human capabilities. This power can manifest itself in many ways: a miraculous healing; an easing of stress and emotional pressure; a change in circumstances that couldn’t be brought about through human effort; insight that transcends earthly wisdom, knowledge, and experience; the capacity to love sacrificially and unconditionally, as God loves us. God’s Spirit in you gives you power to break out of the problems and despair of life by bringing you happiness, hope, courage, and new strength that is unquenchable and unstoppable.

Including God in everything adds a whole new dimension to life. It’s like stepping into a new world where even things that used to be mundane can become extraordinary.

EVERY TIME OF TESTING AND TRIAL, EVERY TIME OF SUFFERING, IS A TIME OF DECISION!

Suffering is a catalyst, it's the test-tube-time to see whether you already have the grace to take it by faith, or if it can turn you to grace and cause you to call upon God.

Suffering always does one of these three things: It purifies and humbles and cleanses the saved and draws us even closer to God; it turns some of the unsaved to God and brings them to repentance and Salvation as in their suffering they cry unto the Lord; and then, finally, it causes some to curse God all the more and therefore be all the more deserving of His judgements.

The Lord allows the Enemy to test people and often the Devil brings suffering on people hoping they will blame it all on God and turn against Him. The Enemy tries to point an accusing finger at the Love of God, hoping they will "curse God and die" as Job's wife advised him to do. But the Lord is hoping that they will endure in faith and trust Him anyway, and say with Job, "Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him!" (Job 13:15).

Born Again! - Final

Then one of the seven angels … talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife." And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great City, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of Heaven from God, having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. Revelation 21:9–11

And if you "abide in Him & He abides in you, then you shall bring forth fruit." (John 15:5) You can't help it! If you are genuinely saved, if you are genuinely born again, if you really have God in your heart, if you have Salvation, if you have Jesus, you're a new creature & you will be different. You don't have anything to do with it, all you do is ask Him to come in & He does it all!

SO EXPECT THINGS TO BE DIFFERENT!--Not totally different perhaps, as you're still human, you're still in the flesh. But you'll find a change in your spirit, in your thoughts, in your heart & in your direction. You'll be happy & overflowing with love! Because if you have Jesus, you have Love!--For "God is Love!" (1John 4:8)

JESUS SAID, "BEHOLD, I STAND AT THE DOOR & KNOCK: if any man hear My voice, & open the door, I will come in to him, & will sup with him, & he with Me." (Rev.3:20) Salvation is so powerful, but God will not force it on you. His Love is all-powerful, but He won't make you receive it. Jesus knocks at the door, He doesn't kick it in! He could break it down or pulverize it with one look, but He refuses to force His way into your heart.

GOD HAS LEFT THE MAJESTY OF CHOICE UP TO YOU AS AN INDIVIDUAL, & nobody can ever force you to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour. You alone can make that choice, if & when you want to. He certainly wants to be your Saviour & He will come in, just as soon as you ask Him. But you must make the decision, not us, not even Jesus! He's left that choice up to you!

WILL YOU ACCEPT GOD'S LOVE IN JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR OWN PERSONAL SAVIOR? Do you have Jesus in your heart?--Then you are saved forever & bound for Heaven & will never be lost! Are you saved?--If you're not sure, make sure right now & receive Him personally as your own Lord & Saviour by sincerely praying this simple prayer:

"LORD JESUS, PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR ALL MY SINS. I believe You died for me. I believe You are the Son of God, & I now ask You to come into my life. I open the door & I invite You into my heart. Jesus, please come in & help me to love others & tell them about You, that they may find You too. Help me to read Your Word & understand it by Your Spirit. In Jesus' name I ask, amen."

IF YOU PRAY THIS PRAYER & MEAN IT, JESUS WILL COME IN! Jesus promised that if you open the door to your heart, if you ask Him to come in, He will come in!--Period! So once you do that, once you believe His Word, His promise, you are saved!

TRUE SALVATION IS JUST PURE FAITH IN GOD'S WORD, NOT FAITH IN FEELINGS! Your feelings may change from day to day, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but the Bible, God's Word, never changes! So put your faith in His Word, for "faith comes by hearing the Word of God!" (Rom.10:17) The Bible is definite, so no matter how you feel, if you ask Jesus to come in, He comes in, because He said so!

OF COURSE BEING BORN AGAIN, RECEIVING JESUS, WILL RESULT IN A CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE, AS YOU SHOW YOUR FAITH BY YOUR WORKS. (Jam.2:18) But it is not necessarily always manifested at the moment by a big emotional feeling or outward show--although it often is. But regardless of your feelings, God's Word is always the same & Jesus will always come in when asked!--So receive Him now!

"BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST & THOU SHALT BE SAVED!" (Acts 16:31) God bless you with His Love & Salvation!--Now & Forever!

33. BUT THANK GOD, "THEY THAT BELIEVE HAVE ENTERED INTO REST!" (Heb.4:3) We can have rest & peace of mind, knowing that we don't have to worry about whether we're good enough or if we've been too bad or if we're going to make it or not, every day wondering whether we're going to be saved or not. I wonder what such doubtful Christians think Jesus died for, anyhow? If you could save yourself, the Lord wouldn't have had to give His life for you!

34. TRUE, YOU CAN KEEP YOURSELF IN HIS WILL & IN LINE WITH HIS BLESSINGS by obeying the Lord, doing His work, being fruitful & so on. But you can't keep yourself saved! Jesus did that once & forever, & His gift is eternal life!--Not a sometime thing, saved & lost ten thousand times a day, there's no such thing! If you haven't got eternal Salvation, you haven't got Salvation! If you're not saved forever, you're not saved!

35. GRACE PLUS FAITH PLUS NOTHING!--THAT'S SALVATION! You don't have to be good to get saved & you don't have to be good to stay saved! But this does not mean that you can just live as you please once you are saved. If you are really a Christian you will always be saved, but if you commit sins against the Lord & others which are unconfessed, unrepented of & not made right, you will suffer for them in some way, "for whom the Lord loveth, He chasteneth, & scourgeth every son whom He receiveth." (Heb.12:6) But even if you are disobedient, rebellious & chastened of the Lord for your sins, if you are saved, you'll always be saved!

36. WHEN, AS A YOUNG CHRISTIAN, I READ JOHN 3:36, THAT ENDED ALL MY WORRIES!--I didn't worry about it anymore! "He that hath the Son hath everlasting life!" That was it! I knew I had Jesus, & I knew He didn't keep popping in & out of my heart! He was there all the time. He says, "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the World!" (Mat.28:20) He says, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee." (Heb.13:5) & "I give unto them eternal life; & they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand." (John 10:28)

37. SO THANK THE LORD THAT WE CAN BE SAVED & KNOW IT! And of course, if you really are, you'll show it too. You'll no longer be like everybody else in the rest of the World, you'll be different! You'll be a "new creature in Christ Jesus, old things will be passed away, behold all things will become new!" (2Cor.5:17)--There'll be a change, a real change!

38. WHEN YOU RECEIVE JESUS, YOUR WHOLE LIFE WILL BE CHANGED LIKE A NEWBORN BABY BORN INTO A WHOLE NEW WORLD with a new spirit as a new child of God! So don't be surprised if you actually feel different & even think differently & are happier than you have ever been before! Jesus said it is like being born again, becoming a new person, & the old "bad you" with all your old sins is gone forever & there is a whole "new you," much better & happier than ever before! (John 3:3; 2Cor.5:17)

39. HIS COMING INTO YOUR LIFE NOT ONLY RENEWS & PURIFIES & REGENERATES YOUR SPIRIT, but it also renews your mind, literally breaking old connections & reflexes & gradually rebuilding & rewiring you into a whole new computer system with an utterly different outlook on life, a new way of looking at the World, & with new reactions to nearly everything around you.

40. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR MEN TO REALLY CHANGE THEMSELVES, BUT IT'S POSSIBLE FOR GOD TO CHANGE ANYONE! It's never possible for us to change our hearts, it's only possible for us to ask. And when Jesus comes into your heart, everything is changed--everything! You are a new person! And if you're not changed, you don't have Jesus, because He changes people.--No matter how good you are, He'll make you better!

41. IF YOU ARE GENUINELY SAVED, BORN AGAIN, A NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST JESUS, OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY & ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW.

Born Again! Pt. 4

Rejoicing in Trials

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.… James 1:2-3 NASB

25. HE'LL FORGIVE YOU FOR EVERY SIN IN THE BOOK, EXCEPT ONE, & THAT'S REJECTING JESUS!--For that is "blasphemy against the Holy Ghost," the Spirit of Truth. (Mark 3:28,29) The only unpardonable sin is the sin of rejecting the Holy Ghost, of refusing to heed the Voice of God & of spurning His Love & His Salvation in Christ. He says that it won't be forgiven in this life, nor even in the World to come. (Mat.12:32)

26. SO THE GREAT CONDEMNATION IS NOT THAT MEN ARE ALREADY SINFUL, which God can forgive & does forgive if we receive His pardon through His Son. But the great condemnation is rejecting Jesus Christ! "This is the condemnation, that light is come into the World, & men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." (John 3:19)

27. BUT IF YOU COME TO THE LIGHT--JESUS, "THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD" (John 8:12)--"there is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus" (Rom.8:1), to them that have received Christ & His forgiveness. The Lord says, "Let the wicked forsake his way, & the unrighteous man his thoughts: & let him return unto the Lord, & He will abundantly pardon. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow! Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool!" (Isa.55:7;1:18)

28. YOU CAN START FROM SCRATCH WITH THE LORD, for when you receive Jesus as your Saviour, you are spiritually "born again" & are a "new creature in Christ Jesus"! (John 3:3; 2Cor.5:17) God says He will "blot out thy sins as a cloud, & as a thick cloud, He'll put them behind His back, & will remember them against you no more." (Isa.44:22; 38:17; Heb.8:12)

29. AND ONCE YOU HAVE RECEIVED JESUS, YOU CANNOT LOSE HIM, He will never cast you out! "All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; & him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out." (John 6:37) If you have Jesus, if you have the Lord, then you have life, eternal life, & you cannot lose eternal life! You can lose your physical life, but never your eternal life!

30. SALVATION IS FOREVER! ONCE SAVED, YOU ARE ALWAYS SAVED, because God cannot lie or go back on His Word or on Himself! God doesn't change His mind! Once you've received Jesus Christ & you let Him into your heart & you love Him & you know Him & you believe on Him as your Saviour, you are a saved child of God & you're going to live forever! Once you are "born again" as His child, you will always be His child! You can't be unborn!

31. "HE THAT BELIEVETH ON THE SON HATH EVERLASTING LIFE." (John 3:36)--Right now! No ifs, ands or buts about it! No "providing you're a good boy & go to church every Sunday"! It doesn't say you're going to have it, it says you have it right now!--"Hath everlasting life!" If you stand in danger of losing it 51 times a day, how can you have everlasting life? It's not everlasting if it only lasts a few minutes, till your next evil thought or next evil deed, as a lot of misguided preachers & churches teach!

32. HOW CAN YOU BE SAVED & UNSAVED, SAVED & UNSAVED, 100 times a day like some of these poor, ignorant Christians believe? They say, "Well, I won't know if I'm gonna make it to Heaven until I'm dead & He balances up & measures all my good deeds against my bad deeds. If the good ones out-weigh the bad ones, well then maybe I'll make it." They never really know when or where they stand or how or if or what! It's enough to make a nervous wreck out of you, & that's what a lot of them wind up becoming--nervous wrecks!
