One night a family's pet Rottweiler started barking to be let out in the middle of the night. A rather grumpy owner got out of bed and let him out, shutting the door firmly behind him.
Snuggling back into bed with his partner, the dog soon started barking outside as well. The man got up, opened the window and told the dog to be quiet.
The dog obediently went quiet, but soon started barking again. Again, the man got out of bed, opened the window and told the dog to shut up.
Drifting off to sleep comfortably snuggled under the quilt, the family were awoken once more by the urgent ringing of the doorbell. Someone wouldn't would not lay off that wretched bell.
The man grouchily goes down stairs tying his dressing gown around himself as he went. It's 3am in the bloody morning. His sleep has been disturbed four times. He opens the door...and finds the Rottweiler standing on his hind legs, leaning on the door bell with his front paws.
At this point the man realises their dog has been trying to tell them something all along: the roof of the house is ablaze. He wakes his family and gets them out safely just before the roof comes crashing down.
Now tell me dogs can't think, can't reason, can't problem solve...and don't have a soul.
What is the point of rating a photo unless you're going to tell someone that they are beautiful, they are attractive to you, or that you just like the photo?
I've just turned mine off, particularly because a few people have taken the trouble to give my daughter a low rating for her art work.
Whilst I understand that some people may have got the scale arse-about-face and rated a 1 thinking it was the highest score, I'm a little worried that some low ratings are given out of spite.
If you think I'm butt ugly, or my daughter is talentless, then walk on by, but for goodness sake, if you are going to rate someone, don't batter their self-esteem into the ground.
I happen to think that she is very talented, particularly as this is niave art, she has had no tuition and she has a really individual style. The kid needs bigging up, not putting down.
What is the point of that???
