As evidenced by countless harebrained national schemes, forcing all but the higher ranking Party members to suffer through. Great leaps backward, Cultural devolutions, metal smelters in every peasants back yard, countless collective agriculture famines, Vietnam/Nepalese/Tibetan adventures, empty apartment blocks and bridges to nowhere, Uighur and other KZ camps for non-Han minorities, one child edicts, etc.This latter policy left large gaps in various segments of the population. And a burgeoning aging sector, with no real social security. No more large gaggle of offspring to care for Granny and for Grand dad.
The Wuhan virus mostly kills off the elderly. And may have had its root partly in the laboratory.
A country that aborts, or otherwise kills off every other female newborn, most simply dumped about here and there.
