Mini getaway
We were supposed to go for a 5-day trip to Breckenridge, CO but after looking at its weather forecast, we decided to go to Amana Colonies, IA instead. I was bummed coz I was really looking forward to Breckenridge and all the activities that Art and I have had planned It was forecasted it’d be raining the whole time we’d be there and Art didn’t want our trip to be San Antonio 2.0We were in San Antonio back in February and it rained during most part of our trip and it was freezing cold We booked our flights and hotel 4-5 months earlier thinking SA would have its best weather at that time but Mother Nature obviously had other plans for us.
Anyway, Amana Colonies was alright but I gotta say, not a big fan of German food…The whole time I was there having my meals, it made me miss my old country even more…
First stop- furniture shop. The only thing I was interested in was their $8,500 sofa. I’d have to sell my son for that
Next stop- Quilt shop. While Art and I were browsing the shop, pretending to be interested, my son just sat on a chair near the exit, didn’t even bother to show the least interest.
Checked out an antique shop ( there were a couple of them ) with no intention of buying anything coz our house is too small
The mother of all safety pins
This would not have made it to the printer in today’s world.
Lunch was uneventful.
Art had cherry pie which he enjoyed very much whereas my son and I shared a chocolate pie. I think I prefer Marie Callender’s Chocolate Satin pie
After lunch, we went across the street to check out their General Store. Nice store, lots of things to see.
Dinner was slightly better just because we had Radler, a mix of Pilsner and lemonade.
The breaded cheese curds were nice and I urged Art to buy some to bring home at the meat shop the following day. I just tried some at home just now Thankfully I gave a packet away to my neighbor yesterday! Lol
