The Preppy Killer
Did you hear about the recent parole of a woman killer?...It all went down in a New York City park in the 1980's...Robert Chambers a lovely young man who was charged with murder but was reduced (he pled to a lesser charge)...due to the testimony and other 'supporters' believed that it was in fact an accident...
He admitted to killing his friend Jennifer (after it became clear that he could not lie about his involvement) in a 'rough sex' went wrong accident...
At first he suggested it happened as the young lady was the aggressor and he was defending himself...later he said he applied too much force...
Adding to this seemingly unreal tale...his lawyer painted this young lady as a slut or bad girl...Robert on the other hand was a good looking, tall, popular lad who went to one of the best schools in NYC...
If you were privy to see the autopsy photos...I would beg to differ...but then again...this took place in the 80's...
Another ace up the defense's sleeve was his mother's friend a Catholic Church Cardinal called Uncle Ted...vouched for Robert's virtue/good character...
even gave him refuge...So you can see why the prosecution decided to plead him down to a lesser charge...
Little did they know that Robert's friends and family hid his thievery and drug addiction from the public...
It gets better...he gets 5-15 years in the clink but had some behaviour/conduct issues that resulted in him doing the full 15 years...drug use/ smuggling to name a few...
Just when you think you heard enough...there is more...
After his release from prison...he decides that dealing drugs out of his apartment is a great job...good for the community...
Robert gets busted and spends approx.15 years or so in prison again...his girlfriend gets rehab...maybe they think she has been through enough...
So now he is free and going to be someone's neighbour...

So now looking back...it is just amazing that this is a true story...it is truly shocking...
I am glad for Jennifer's parents who are still alive for all to know the truth finally...

So his parents were not rich but were able to subsidize the cost of sending Chambers to good schools...
That is where the connection of the p*dophile priest comes into play...there is a feeling that the Preppy Killer was in fact a molestation victim by 'Uncle Ted'...
It also might give a reason why at such a young age, Chambers was using drugs and stealing as well as getting kicked out of multiple schools and poor grades...
'Uncle Ted' was declared unfit to stand trial at 93 years of age but he was reported numerous times but the powers that be stifled or silenced his detractors...
There was a group of them that hung out at a certain bar in the neighborhood...so she was comfortable around him and her friends knew of him...at least they thought they knew him...
He actually was stealing from his friend's parents (while they had parties at the homes when parents were away) Chambers was part of a network of people that stole from others regularly...his drug use was probably what fueled this need too...
It sounds like a soap opera on TV...

This saga continues to prove full of cliches...lets face it...there is always an uncle somewhere including one that owns a cabin and one that makes rice!!
In 2019...Pope Francis defrocked McCarrick after a Vatican investigation determined he sexually abused minors, as well as adults. The two-year internal investigation into McCarrick found that three decades of bishops, cardinals and popes downplayed or dismissed reports of s*xual misconduct.
I think the defense team and the Catholic Church and the parents of Robert Chambers should apologize to the family of Jennifer and other abuse victims...
Keeping silent created more harm...
Cocaine or any drug that induces an euphoric state of mind can reek havoc on one's psyche...
Although, it might be a combination of factors for the Preppy Killer...at that young age most emotional and intellectual parts of the brain are under developed, but adding drugs to the mix can further impair brain function. This, on top of a gross sense of entitlement or lack of empathy and an underlying rage may have given Robert the ability to kill not just steal from his rich friends...
It does not help at the time that society (in general) bought into his BS story...and in doing that the victim conduct came into question. With time...his true character became known to all...
