The truth about smoking

I’ve been smoking for about 20 years on and off and I always cultivated the ability to quit and restart. I know it is a dangerous game, but danger sometimes is fun, a source of knowledge and a stimulus to learn new things.
The fact is I did love savouring a nice cigarette sometimes with a cold beer or while sipping my fave whisky, but at the same time I did not like being smoke dependant with all related disastrous side effects and habits.

So after years of battling and researching I found out a few important things.
We all know that nicotine does not last long in our body in reality, what creates dependence is our low psychology and our poor understanding of the whole process . And some old myths and preconceptions hereby I would like to destroy.

Quitting smoking is easier than learning to play piano or solving Math problems, but you don’t become proficient overnight. Yet if you put enough studying and exercise in it, every body can become fairly good at and will eventually be able to master the process instead of becoming slave and addicted to it.
On the contrary to what common knowledge is, it s not only will power and don’t have to get fat, but like for a recipe, if you follow the instructions you get the right thing,if you don’t , you get something else.
In terms of time and energy you have to be prepared to it is similar to a driving license test .So basically something anybody can do.

So you might argue, if this knowledge is available why people do not use it when they want to quit ?
Because they don’t know it is reasonably easy and still believe in old myths like quitting is nearly impossible.
Tabacco manufacturing companies did a great jobs, first convinced you that smoking was cool and then that giving it up was so hard. If this is not a brainwashing masterpiece, what is ?

Work smarter not only harder!

i am a non smoker so i have never had the thing of trying to quit although i have watched my mum for years saying she is going to quit and yet always fails
my dad however gave up over night which i know could not have been a easy thing to do
if someone told me to stop eating chocolate i would probably die laugh

howeve can you imagine my disappointment when i found out my daughter smokes at the age of 14
reason behind it was because all her friends were doing it and it was cool, i dont understand this being i never smoked but i personally think standing outside bars etc freezing in this kind of weather does not look cool,

i took my daughter to the doctors to get help for her to quit but she says she now enjoys smoking but how can you enjoy getting stressed out when you need a smoke, surely thats not a enjoyable experiance, the doctor wont help unles she wants to quit, she knows the dangers in smoking but she has no intentions of stopping

any ideas john on how i can get her to stop sad flower
Kas...I am using CHAMPIX and I smoked for 45 years and 25+ a day. I am now down to 2 a day.

If she refuses...then stop her money allowance.
yay If you have such effective process. Go for a seminar around the world and millions of smokers will pay for your seminar instead of cigarettes. It should be healthy and richy hah. peace

Giving up smoking like trying to forget a hot/pretty girl.
throw it away and then go to get it back. rolling on the floor laughing

Just joking John. i think it is good to give up smoking and it needs patient as well as brave. cool
2kten…your ebullience is contagious…has it come to you along with the relief package? Have we got gotitall back? handshake
@Ltd ,

I think smoking in public places like bars or restaurant as we used to do in the past is irrespective of people freedom ,despite I might like it personally once in a while.
I dont agree with you it s not simply will power ,this is one of the old myths I'd like to demolish, its above all specific knowledge.

@kas ,
allow me,how can you persuade somebody to quit when they want to smoke?I went through this years ago and know the process quite well... You said that before, what is behind it s the cause, that's why doctor can not help her.

why so many people smoke when they know that it is not good to their health?
I think John can help you answer hen_gugu. I am not a smoker so I don't know how hard it will be to give it up.
I tried some in my teenage but luckily I did not feel good of it so it has not become my habit.
My father used to be a heavy smoker. He used to try to give it up many times without success.
Anyway about 10 years ago He gave up and got success till now. It maybe was the right time after all.
He is over 80 now and feels healthy and sleeps well. I am proud of that. teddybear
well Mr Alfibarrios,
Its not easy to figure out your opinion (amongst your broken English and typos) but that 'take it and keep it'it does not seem to add great value to this blog.As to your slimming up capabilities allow me to remain rather skeptical, your pics show a rather obviuos weight issue.Yet all the best for your future.
handshake
