Duck and Hen - Henpecked Lame Duck

It’s a sleepy morning. I slept all the way to the office. Lame Duck was early. I ignored him for fear that he would make me talk to him when I really wanted to take a nap.

That Lame Duck is early isn’t a surprise for me. I can always tell which day he’ll be late or early. If his wife orders him to do the dishes and mop the floor before leaving for work, he’ll be late. If there’s a change in the marketing plan, he will be here early. But it doesn’t make a difference if he’s here early or late as he doesn’t seem to be much productive to the company.

Each day I must make up many stories for Lame Duck when people call him. He knows he's not interested in their services but he keeps them calling him. When the line is put through to him, he doesn't want to talk. Last person who called him at 3 pm was told he had been made redundant. Lame Duck should thank me for not telling the guy he had been fired.

Went to the toilet. I didn’t check my tidiness before leaving. Luckily, I was still there and washing my hands when a cleaner who stood not far from me told me my dress was tucked in my knickers. She saw it all, I guessed. But it didn’t make me blush as long as I was wearing nice knickers. Ha-ha.

Before lunchtime Pokemon sent me an e-mail saying her friend who used to work here as Sales Manager called to complain about Lame Duck. The latter had asked him to meet up for lunch and dinner but he had never paid for any lunch or dinner or whatever he ordered. The guy said he was so sick of that and wouldn’t see Lame Duck again.

I think Lame Duck may not contact the guy for 15 days. Today he won underground lotto for a few thousands baht. This news must be concealed from his wife; otherwise, she will take away the whole money and give him 5 USD per day as usual. That's why he often asks us, his staffs, to buy him lunch or coffee.

Freak wanted to see Lame Duck but he’s not at his desk. I guessed he might be chatting away with some customers or taking a dump somewhere. Lame Duck isn’t as small as a duck. In fact, he’s as big as a pregnant pig. However, the way Freak checks if he’s in the cabin is funny.

I don’t have to enter his room to see whether or not he’s there: just standing outside his cabin I can tell that. But Freak must enter his room to have a close look in every corner just to make sure he’s not lying dead on the floor or eating behind the filing cabinet, or taking a nap under his desk the way he often does at home when he’s hiding away from his wife.

Freak told me to call her if Lame Duck was back. I didn’t call her because he wasn’t back. Freak kept coming back to check it by herself for 4-5 times. I let her do whatever she wanted to satisfy her abnormality. When Lame Duck was back I called her, but she didn’t want to see him anymore.
