Lucky escape
Hi everybody. Two days ago my comp started have startup problem.I couldnt start it up.So I have checked it and done test.It showed that I have a HDD problem and i should replace it.There was message on the black screen something like that.I couldnt restore the comp too.So i searched in the internet on my phone to get some info about the problem and typed on the google exact message.results came from the forums and looked like many people had same problem and they had to replace their HDD.So i ve called the servise and talked to them. They said that new HDD costs 100 AZN which is 125$ and additional 30 AZN for replacing and formatting. So i ve decided to take it local computer technician and he said that he is going to format it and it will work.He did it only for 20 AZN (25$)and its working now.I donmt know if i ve just saved more than 130$ on it or had a lucky escape.
Have u ever had similar problem with your PC?

Rummy, I don`t remember if I already posted this pic here, but next time when you have some troubles with your PC, try this!

Hard disks normally last forever - I have a few that go back maybe 18 years.... Unless rough handled, bumped around......like this ......>
this hard drive has its sata connector broken off & I've soldiered the sata cable directly on to the hard drive pcb & it works!
Yeah Party ,i was thinking to throw away my pc and buy new one too instead of investing money on this hp rubbish.I bought it 2 years ago and its battery dead already which costs 70$ here.now this HDD problem.luckily got away with 20
Weep
other than that nothing and comp wouldnt start.
When the HD was refromated did you loose all your files ?
Me to i start have problems and i do not knwo whats wrong :(, my Laptop start bee to hot, sepcially when i attach the cam also is geting so hot you can make egss on top of my laptop is burning and make a strange noise is this from HDD also?
If you stick you hand near the vents, you should feel movement of air, which means your fans are working. There is also a fan on the CPU, which you can only see if the laptop covers are off. It is most crucial that this fan works and it free from dust or not clogged.
If you can acess your files easily/quickly, your hard drive is ok - however rather make a backup to be safe.
Thanks, like you saied i need someoane take a look im not good on fixing pc.
But i do not think is the fan, is only one by the way and the bad part is that is heating on the side where i conect the modem and the usbs.
They are 1.5 TB (tetrabyte) each. One is used as a back-up
to the computer hardrive and the other is a backup to the external hardrive (I've had external hard drives go too).
Therefore if anything happens to one, or even two
of the devices, I have everything safely saved and can copy it back to a new device, or the newly repaired hardrive.
Mostly, I did this for my photography work.
But, it could be applied to any situation.
watch-out harddrives are not what they use to be , as they get bigger they get less stable , not like the old small hds when you could fill them right up and your computer would still work , but be dead slow ...
these newer harddrives need room to move ,so if you have a 500 gig harddrive you can only use 400 gig safely use more and it will crash and the same with larger hds they need even more free space for virtual memory..
so dont fill your computer up full of movies and pictures , use a external harddrive for all your good stuff you want to keep
fortunatly i didnt have many important files in my hd
Virgo thanx for the info.I dont have disc too.noü i need to make one for the future.
After 30+ years of working on computers... once you start to have a problem with your HHD, your best bet is to replace it.
Sure you can format it, and get by with it for a while longer...but it is inevitable that it will find another place on the HHD to mess up again.
Let that be a signal to you, to start saving your money for a new HDD later, or take the money abd get a new computer.
Formatting does not fix anything, it just moves the bad segments around, so that you can continue for a little longer.
Just my friendly advise for you.

it starts to give me headache again.
