Christmas Trees for muslims.

My country's profile says that 82% of people are muslims.Yes people are calling themselves muslims here, but never practice a religion. They are more atheists than a religious.
But that's not the case.99% people decorating a Christmas Trees at home and tens of huge Christmas Trees building up by the goverment in the parts of City. They think that a Cristmass Tree is the symbol of New Year. And don't care that its for Christians.
Also there's going to be many Santas in the public places.

Isnt't it funny?

I wonder If theres another muslim majority country in the world that almos every family decorate a Christmas Tree and wating for Santa?dancingsanta santa waving

My country. Welcome to Indonesia, Rummy. You can find gigantic Christmas trees with ornaments and Christmas decorations in the malls latelygrin wine
Hi Lachi. As I know Indonesia has many christians too.So do muslim families decorating Christmas trees too?wine
Hi Rummy,
Only the christians put up Christmas trees here.
Nogrin I don't think so unless it is a inter-religious familywine
Hi Firas. What statics you want from me.I know my nation very well. They call themselves muslims ,but dont pray even 1 time a day. There's no wedding party or other parties without Vodka.Women dont wear burgha or hijab, but wear open clothes. So would you still call them muslims?Anyway thats not the subject and I dont care what people call themselves. The subject here is Christmas Tree
grin grin
Hi Rummy wave
People were actually decorating their houses with greens and decorating trees way before it was ever associated with Christianity, for instance, Egyptians, Romans and druids.
In the Middle Ages Scandinavians and Germans placed evergreen trees inside their homes or just outside their doors to show their hope in the forthcoming spring. I think our christmas tree comes from there, just as the custom of exchanging gifts (symbols for prosperity and happiness and a good journey in life).

No Christmas tree in KSA Rummy....crying
Actually, Muslims believe that Christ was a prophet.
The Muslim & Christian religions are more similar, than they are different. It's the extremists in both religions that cause
the fighting. peace
for you Shay

Wow Shay.wow Whats in your mind? You wanna drink untill you collapse to the hand of the handsome unknown guy?laugh
Rummy,
i know your country and you were under USSR regime for years,so every religion practice was a crime, therefore the Azerbaijanis people lost a lot from their religion for generations and most of the people believe in God/Allah in their hearts.

but making them as a majority atheist is not logically acceptable!?nerd

anyway Muslims me too believe in Jesus(Isa) as Jim said,so we have no objections to celebrate his birth day even we don't have the accurate date, but in our own way,we even congratulate every Christian we meet.handshake

so having Christmas tree in every Muslim house, will be okay, but its not our obligations and we don't want to cut trees every year, this we call it a Capitalism idea to sell every years millions of tree, instead of helping people with that money they spend on a dead tree?

you said,.. ((Also there's going to be many Santas in the public places)).

its a pressure from some organizations like International Monetary Fund,World Bank,European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, etc,so they must show them how democrat they become!?wink enjoy beer and don't drink to much grin
Why some people try every time to spoil a nice blog??? Please, don't pay attention, Rummy! hug

Thank you for the interesting information and for contributing for the Christmas/New Year spirit on CS thumbs up

I can only add that I don't know about Muslims and Christmas trees here but I know that in some villages and small towns where live Muslims together with Christians, there is a nice tradition: on Easter the Christians give Muslims dyed eggs and Easter bread and on Bairam Muslims give Christians some sweets that they do. wave
Firas,I think every person in the world believe in Higher Power(Even atheists do in some occasions of their lives)And I believe in Supreme Creator.

And I agree that people should not cut many trees .Luckyly in here people mostly buy artificial Xmas Trees.cheers

I have realised this year to decorate just the Arolla Pine in front of my house with lights ( as usual) and send my artificial Christmas Tree to some other Democratic non- Christian house for children to cheer them up and make them beautiful end of this year.
