Stray Animals

This morning I saw one pug lying on his stomach outside our library. His hair was so messy and dirty. As I walked near him and stared at him, he noticed me and stood up immediately, with his big round eyes wide open looking like he was begging for food. I felt very sorry for him since I had no food at that time. As I walked away, my heart was heavy with regrets for not being able to help this dog. I wondered if I should buy a few sausages in case I met these hungry stray dogs again. But there are also many stray dogs and cats on the campus beyond my ability to help. Some are subjected to bad conditions, some are even mistreated by humans.

If people could be responsible for their pets, there wouldn't be so many abandoned animals with no home. But why are there fewer abandoned babies than abandoned pets? Is it because we have laws to protect humans or is it because humans are more valuable than animals or is it because humans have kinships with their babies? But for whatever reasons, animals are also lives and should enjoy some equal rights with humans. If we are not ready to undertake this responsibility to keep an animal pet, we should not raise one. Otherwise, we will leave another poor life suffering.

Not too many people commented but I suspect that it's because no one has the answer for those that do abandon animals. We all know it's wrong and we all know the reasons but we just don't know what to do about these people that mistreat animals.

In America it is a very serious crime to treat animals bad. But some people still do although they know if they get reported they face jail time and serious fines. And they do it for various reasons ranging from the fact that they don't care and the other end they don't want to abandon their animals even though they are too poor to feed them so they hold on to them.

I am familiar with Pugs and although they are very sweet and beautiful animals they have the propensity to run away. They are just little rascals but they do take off if you don't watch them carefully.

I agree. If you can't take care of an animal then don't own one.
Next time you see another one do it ! Find the nearest shop buy and feed it or start a group in the campus ...doing nothing not going to stop this problem...i've saved 4 kittens their mum and various dogs ,i called the SPCA to pick them up.
Start from somewhere ,if you see a human injured or bleeding ,wont you help ? Humanity comes from us ,Dont except someone else to help .sorry if I intrude your space .
Well I did buy five sausages yesterday afternoon, but then I did not see that pug until today. When I threw one sausage in front of that pug, he suddenly showed his teeth and looked so fierce like I disturbed his sleep. He did not seem very interested in that sausage somehow. dunno
Thanks for everyone else's opinions.
