Joys and pains of working abroad
For numerous reasons, many expats like me venture out into foreign countries to work and live for a number of years. Some of us, go to a country where we have family, friends and relatives who are already working there. While for most of us, we bravely say goodbye to what we have been accustomed to, with BIG dreams of a better future for our families, go forth and work in a country that we haven't even heard of.Working and living abroad takes courage. Not everyone is cut out to be expats. Some people stay only for few months and go back, while others stay for many many years.
Being an expat means being flexible and open to new experiences and culture. Living abroad is stressful at first but we eventually adapt. It takes time, effort and being open to everything that makes the whole experience enjoyable!

Very exciting too and hopefully a rewarding experince for you.
Wishing you well
I think it takes a lot of bravery to do what you have done. I have never needed to but I'm not sure I could.
Being on an international dating site and having dated foreign ladies obviously I have thought seriously about moving. But that is not the same as being alone.
Yes you would have to be very tolerant and flexible especially in the gulf states where women do not enjoy the same rights and freedoms they do in other countries.
I salute you for your bravery - putting family first.

So far, it has been one exciting ride for me...
Thanks for the comment and yes...family comes first for most us.
my only problem with my job , is the tax rate , after tax my $17.00 turns into $10.00 for 10 hours driving ,=$420.00 tax per week
By the way Muscat is a dead place comparing with a metropolitan city hustle bustle....but Oman in general is beautiful, calm and quiet. Way better beaches than the UAE. Very hot in temperature though! I always prefer to drive to Muscat (almost 5 hours).
And you're lucky you can have a vacation in Salalah....amazing place.
Oman is not the most oppressive state - I know shay is in saudi - and social life is much more restrictive.
Max - when you have a family to support - holidays are not always affordable - only dreams of a better future.

Yes, Oman is such a lovely country and wonderful people.
The welfare of my family is the priority for me right now. One brother and a sister already finished college and got their job and I helped them. I still have two siblings in college, I am sending them enough to get thru everyday. Few more years (2 years) and they are done. By that time I will be a very proud older sister and that I have been a part of their journey to success. And that's my number one reason (of my soooo many reasons why I am here).
I have read in one article that its not the situation or the circumstances that prevents us from being successful. Its the ATIITUDE and you have it...the right one.
Go for the BEST!
