Angels they sure ARE!!!!!
Shouts and laughter echo along the corridorsThey greet their teacher as they see her come
"Ma'am ... they drawl, how are you today?"
"So nice to be with you as always," I smile
Eleven to twelve year olds, growing up to be smart
They look up to me, for guidance and attention
My troubles all forgotten,I become one of them
joining in their chatter, ready for answers
Growing up issues, crushes and friendships
so many to deal with, everyday,
I show my stern face, just to keep them busy
Yes they obey, they know, I am always there
Lessons over, ready for circle time,
out come the woes, the pain and frustrations
One by one, they are heard out, in all seriousness
Solutions and comfort from me I guess they receive
End of a day, feel like staying more
One comes up, "Bye ma'am," a warm hug
Isn't this blissful, isn't it rewarding
just to receive so much love and no conditions?
"Bye...." I manage, my throat tightening,
how I hate, to leave this place, my home
where I unwind, amidst these innocent souls
their ever present smiles which make my day
patience and endurance, love and forgiveness,
empathy and understanding, strict yet friendly
are what I am made of, to be a part of
the world of hyperactive and lovable ANGELS!!!
