POVERTY IN THE US???

i saw a bbc programme this week about the poor and poverty stricken people of america..breakes your heart..how can the richest and most powerful country in the world have poverty???

Greed.

There is most definitely poverty in some parts of America. Poor economy, high taxes, loss of jobs.

I, myself have fallen to this with the shutdown of my boss's business about a month ago and it's been a struggle since. frustrated

serenity hi,i do wish you luck in finding a new job..i think it is a pure waste to have your working people idle?pure GREED is right girl,the rich and powerful must cut back some to let the poor have a decent life??the uk is not far behind the us i know..so many from england have moved looking for a better life abroad..i think it is more difficult in the us eh??cheers

I wouldn't call a country that is $16,000,000,000,000 in debt, the richest and most powerful country in the world. Actually, a third world country that is poor but has no debt (probably, thanks to us) is far wealthier than us.
