THE MOST DREADED WORD?

I had a work friend in tears today?i put my hand on her shoulder and said?ok girl,and the tears flowed,her son in law has 2 weeks-2 months to live(CANCER)40 something.what can you say.i done my best to make it positive.but she still came to work??

That is so sad

makes you realize how small your own problems are and that we are lucky at our age we reach.
Yes maybe coming to work would help her sitting alone at home wont do anything for her. She will need strength to help her daughter get through this. Well done you is all I can say.

my father only got 6 weeks notice when he got told he had cancer , and he made 5 and a half weeks till he died ...even tho he couldn't speak the last week he could still hear what every one said , you could tell he was holding his breath so he could hear better ...but most thought this was it so they stopped talking...

virgo,we have all had it,me to(AND YOUNGER)it is an emotional subject,i know,but if you have had a long and joyful life,people should be more positive of the life he or she had?as I have said here before go to childrens hospitals and then cry?

I was sitting beside my father in a hospital consultation room 6 weeks ago , when he was told the " most dreaded word "

Everyone deals with this situation differently - every family will deal with it differently .Everyone will have a different way of coping .
But you were very supportive Scouse to that lady ..and i am sure she appreciated it very much .
Sometimes words aren't neccessary ..a hug or gentle hand on someone's shoulder will bring great comfort .

What you did was perfect, often when people are trying to keep it all together inside, the slightest touch, the empathy that came from you, unleashed all the pain that had been kept inside. Its of no help to you now, but you Did help unleash alot of pain.

Virgosingle so sorry to hear about your Dad. What short notice for him and for you and his family. I have witnessed too and believe that people dying, although even unconscious or unable to speak are only too aware, super aware of what is being said, even though they are going through the valley of Death. He had you with him and those he loved. Sorry to hear that though, it is upsetting.

Sorry to hear about your workmate's son inlaw. I probably would go to work than have to deal with the sadness as well...all you can do is try to be there for her as you've done.
