Are you better off now than you were four years ago? I'm certainly not, along with many other people.

TRUMP 2024.

I did well but I don't give credit or blame to politicians. I credit my personal initiative (and my financial advisor). wave
I am but, not thanks to our lib idiots. We need Trump to throw a wrench in their works again. The only change I do is to look at prices on some goods and think...that much for that junk..shove it. If more people stopped spending, maybe stores would get the hint. I watch a guy, cash jordan on the tube. He is in New York and shows the crap going on. He was in a store and showed the locked cabinet, big tube of Crest toothpaste. And the price below. He said why is toothpaste locked up. I thought..why is a tube of toothpaste NINE DOLLARS!
I watch women on the tube who shop box stores. They show the worlds ugliest clothes at prices over $25 and up. And I cringe when one shows some item and says ONLY $5. NO! NOT ONLY! As long as you are idiots and go along with ONLY, prices will keep going up not down! Boycott. Never buy new when used will do.
And follow the depression saying...use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.
Yeah, okay. rolling on the floor laughing

I pay more for gasoline, food, and goods than I was four years ago.
Better off than I was in April 2020, when Spain was in lockdown with the pandemic?

Actually yes. Along with many other people. Because 4 years ago was a pretty bad place to be, and 3 years ago, and 2 years still had a few issues. Finally the powers that be decided the pandemic had ended.

Am I paying the same for things that I did 4 years ago? No. Between the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, prices have gone up up up up up

Am I paying the same for things that I did 10 years ago? NO. 20 years ago? NO. Somebody should do something! 50 years ago houses and cars were a fraction of the price, and a breadwinner would think current salaries were lottery wins!

Do I think things will magically revert to what they were if your carnival barker gets back into the White House?
rolling on the floor laughing

I shouldn't laugh. If you believe he'll make everything in your life come right, and maybe even personally find you a nice rich woman who will adore you, because he can do anything, then I'm sure you're right. comfort roll eyes
You said it all for me Suzie .handshake

That past four years have caused problems everywhere and now with ongoing conflicts across the World prices will rise even more.

The change in our weather has also made a huge difference to prices as Spain itself has suffered drought which has affected the economy with regards to crop growing and prices. We on the other hand have suffered floods which have ruined the farmer's crops.

How people can think that one man will be the World's saviour is beyond comprehension ,although they could ask him for a loan I guess.Wonder what his rates aregrin
"If more people stopped spending, maybe stores would get the hint."

Yes. Boycott. That's the only thing that would work. Perhaps you remember the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Every 60-ish American should. Anybody who thinks T-Rump would support this may as well punt and buy one of his damned Bibles.
My question was directed for U.S. citizens. I should have been more clearer in my blog.
Ah, but you really have no clue as to how much a difference things can be with what type of president you have here in the U.S.
Why do you presume thatdunno

I've been around a hell of a lot longer than you and watched them come and go but none so controversial as Trump.

I was a child when Truman ,after 2 weeks in the White House and much pressure, ordered the atomic bomb attack on Japan. What was Oppenheimer's response "I have blood on my hands"

Look back at your past and you will see so much corruption within the White House.Do you honestly believe that the charges piled up against Trump are all false just to keep him out of the White House dunno

Your choice will never "make America great again" especially the rantings that are taking place at this moment in time .No country for old men as they say and what person would threaten violence once again from his supporters if he loses.

That's a "gun to the head speech" if ever I've heard one.doh
Whomever gets elected as President affects us all not just U.S. citizens. After all you mentioned Trump in your opening post.scold
I say that is because that was a very ignorant statement you made about how one man can't make a difference.

I have seen two great men in my lifetime make such a huge difference with the change my country wanted and needed fir the better.

I have also seen three other president's run my country into the ground while on office. I have lived through it here and witnessed it.
I was actually talking about Trump with regards to one man making a difference. I guess there are plenty in America who could if given the opportunity.

Frankly I find it quite ludicrous that anyone would want someone in their late seventies to run a country the size of America especially after all the latest unintelligible rants he has made of late . handshake
it's true. over all no one is doing better.
at best, been able to tighten their belts. and manage to squeak slightly ahead.

401 and any other investments are extremely volatile. any loss is still a loss no matter what gains people might luck out with. it's the same with money spent.

costs of living up in ALL aspects. it's not the changing times any where near as much as it is bad policies.

trump 2024. we need those policies back. and if people have truly learned any thing from 2009 to present, keep the demonrats out to minimal at best.

russia, china, terrorism, and illegal immigrants, seem to be the only ones that do better. no funds for the nation, border security, and citizens, but seem to have plenty for every one else.

global and home front chaos affects us all. no peace for long to none with demonrats. with the rest of us divided, they keep winning for themselves.
It honestly depends on the person, regardless of their age. Some run circles and outshines younger ones. Trump proves that, and even though he going to turn 78, he can out perform most people of any age. That showed in his first term. Biden, the man has no clue to most things going on in my opinion. He's a hot mess!
Whatever happens in the up coming election I just hope it's good for All Americans not just the chosen few, Neither of these candidates are actually fit to run the highest position in Government and it's time an age limit was set . Trump can talk the talk but will he be able to walk the walk?

Having reached an age [ in my 85th.year ] I am totally aware of what age does to you mentally and physically.grin
To answer your question...Financially, I am doing a little better. I sold the home that I had lived in for 30 years, and built a smaller home. My utilities are much lower..and, it helps that I do not have a pool to maintain...and my electric bill is cheaper...I also have natural gas which is more efficient...hot water heater, stove, and clothes dryer...

I also received a very good raise last year...which also helps...

Where I see the highest increase in cost..groceries, filling up my tank, and car insurance...

I am very lucky..I have no mortgage..so my living expenses are low...

Many of my single friends and co-workers are living paycheck to paycheck...

One man can not change the economy...In my opinion...it is the constant rise in spending in all the mega budgets...

Both sides spend way too much...the deficit is the biggest reason for the higher prices.

My children and grandchildren will be paying for the overspending...

I worry that my grandchildren will never be able to buy a home.
My thoughts exactly and well done you for forward thinking, Though well retired and comfortable I too downsized and my adult kids have their own homes ,but as you say it's the younger generation behind them that will have the struggles.handshake
rolling on the floor laughing thumbs up
Oh, he certainly walked the walk when he (Trump) was in as president.
Hilarious, thanks for the laugh.

The policies a POTUS sets, especially if he writes EOs as if there was no tomorrow, have definitely a big influence on the Economy of the Country!
Well Trump certainly had a huge effect.

The “King of Debt” promised to reduce the national debt — then his tax cuts made it surge. Add in the pandemic, and he oversaw the third-biggest deficit increase of any president.
OP well if tRump had stolen the 2020 election you would have found your costs far higher than now as he would have backed his side kick Putin when Putin invaded Ukraine and when Ukraine was annexed and after Putin had done Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania would have been annexed for starters and with all this going on all you gas prices etc will be going up through the roof.

Ps don't come out with tRump rubbish that he would have stopped the war as he would have just told the countries to surrender to Putin.
Exactly the same as just about every country in the world.

Here in the Philippines everyone is complaining about the increasing cost for food, gas, electricity, water etc.

It’s a worldwide crisis not solely in the almighty US.
SHIFT LOCK.

Well you have your head in the sand to not to see what Putin wants to do.
I am quite aware what PooTin is up to,but blaming Trump for it is quite ludicrous!rolling on the floor laughing

"I am quite aware what PooTin is up to,but blaming Trump for it is quite ludicrous!"

Couldn't a President withdraw aid to Ukraine and let Putin "do whatever the hell he wants?"
