Funny, I don't ever remember her sitting down with us to eat! She always stood and served us. An older brother used to say, "Que mano de mujer". In English one would say, "What hand that woman (has)".
She would make verdulagas con queso y cebolla, arrroz con chicharos, cebolla y tomate, frijoles del oyo, papitas fritas y chile verde con carne puerco. Translated: Pork green chile, chick weed flavored with rice and onions, Fried rice with peas, tomato, froed potatoes and onions and beans straight from the pot.
