Old Lady Jones
The widow, old lady Jones, lived in the haunted-looking house for 70 years. When I was a child, my father informed me that she had about 100 cats that shared the home. It must have been a smelly mess. What I remember most about old lady Jones is that I could see her looking out the highest window with her binoculars, when we passed by. Perhaps she was looking for more cats. Who knows?
Many decades have passed since she died and lived there, but the old house still stands. The house is probably haunted.

Do you think the house is haunted with dead cats?
My answer---That is a great possibility?
As suggested---Does the old lady live a 'secretive' life?
My reply---I thought the same thing. Perhaps that would be an addition to this story.
As suggested---The story could have been exaggerated over the years.
My reply---Sorties do have a way of expanding into to something more exciting then it originally was.
Do you know where Ordway is? I'm from there!
I once wrote a blog with the word "babe" to describe women. This one lady that was very strongly opinionated flew into a tizz over that. I'm glad you see that it's a very innocuous word.
I have seen a lot of old people in Ordway like that! She was probably making sure there was no "bad things" happening. Kinda like the old time version of neighborhood watch!
Yeah, it's possibly haunted and stories about people owning a 100 cats is not unusual!
Maybe she does haunt the place now... with her cats
Its funny what you think growing up.. I remember this one lady who lived across the road from us up a yard... there were about 6 houses and you had to pass Maggies house to get to my friends house, we were all terrified of her when we were young as some said she was a witch.. she was a chunky short lady with only 1 tooth and her hair was white and a bit wild looking. Looking back I realize she was mentally challenged and was a dear old lady needing company.... but would come out and shout at us. She probably just wanted someone to talk to.
See your blog evoked memories of times gone by... 50 some years...we thought Maggie when she died would come back to haunt.. bless her soul. She was a dear really.
Enjoyed your blog.. thanks
