Martin Luther the Monk

During the early 16th Century idealistic German monk Martin Luther, disgusted by the materialism in the church, begins the dialogue that will lead to the Protestant Reformation.

Actually Luther was a very good Catholic! He loved to flagellate himself and suffer for Christ, pray long prayers. He was (brace yourself..) a Scorpio, most of whom have an deep religious interest. Good organisers, although a bit of control freaks, but that was good, as he really gave the Reformation form and direction, and took control when run away Reformists like Karlstadt went too far, and became too violent, causing the peasants uprising and iconoclasm.

The thirty year war was really a result of the stubborn Roman Popes, clergy and established order, who did not want to reform, but wanted to keep their cozy situation with lots of money and politics. Inspite of the counter reformation that cleaned the Popish church up a little bit, the Catholic church failed to latch onto the new winds of change that God caused through Luther.

The Reformation wasn’t the first schism either in the Church of Christ, as the Greek Orthodox and Rome split several times until around the year 1000 AD when it became permanent. Luther’s questions in the movie to his professor in Witenberg brings this out well.

It is an inspiring movie, and very timely, as many of us will have to stand up for what we believe “by the grace of God” and not recant. May Luther give us faith and courage to be brave like him in these Last Days. By God’s grace alone!

EARTH HAS NO SORROW THAT HEAVEN CANNOT HEAL.

His Word is always a comfort and the Voice of His Spirit is always an encouragement in the hour of greatest trial. "The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us" (Rom.8:18). When you think about that, it helps you bear some of the things you have to go through now.

"Sorrow shall endure for a season, but joy cometh in the morning" Psalms 30:5

Keep your eyes on the Lord! Look forward to Heaven, and it will help you bear some of these burdens and trials that you're going through now when you realize these are only just for a moment! Now you see through a glass darkly, but soon it will all be clear and you'll understand. God's tomorrow is a beautiful place! You'll be with Jesus and all your loved ones, and no sorrow will be there, praise God!

"The tears shall be wiped away and the former things shall be no more in the glories of the ecstasies of the Kingdom to come!"

"It will be worth it all when we see Jesus!
Life's trials will seem so small, when we see Christ!
One glimpse of His dear face,
All sorrow will erase!
So bravely run the race,
'till we see Christ!"

Hi Keys, don't mean to ignore you but am interested in what Nidi had to say.

Nidi, Martin Luther was a man of his time! He stood up to a very powerful catholic church. I grew up catholic and he was a bad person according to the catholic church. I believed that until I left the c church after I was saved. Then I found out what I think was true. As you said, he studied the scriptures and realized the c church was absolutely wrong about salvation! How many millions of people have been "duped" by the catholic church?

Good blog Keys!
Jim, Indeed. I'm not at all surprised that the RCC declared Luther a heretic and everything under the sun. He was what we'd call today a "Whistleblower". I read a lot about him, including his Table Talks, the bulls, etc. in the original. He was a man of God and his desire to meet God with a pure soul was genuine. He was studying law and then decided to become a monk. The RCC at the time was like a well networked criminal organization.
Yes, Luther did some great things in his reformation movement, but he wasn't alone in this movement... working with John Calvin who left some good work for us as well, even though Calvin was half crazy laugh ...this is why Luther and Calvin broke apart, they started out with the same ideals on many things in the church, but something went wrong on the road to the WAY...

Luther was not only a great spiritual reformer of the Catholic church, preacher and teacher, he was a great writer of songs (hymns), and my favorite is his A Mighty Fortress Is Our God... I get chills everytime I hear that song in the church especially when its sung with a full choir... stirs my spirit! The music alone is awesome!

Good read Keys about our church leaders of years past.

You Are Beautiful!

Aloha dear Nidifugous and GentleJim, Thank you for sharing the wealth of Love that captures the heart springs of our present times! Yes Nidifugous, personally I'm not versed with Luther's flagellant personallity save I can respect why you chose "non religious" to your profile. True religion is more a matter of the heart, then the majority of expressions we find through the media fronts. Yet the principles brought out in the movie shared a greater resemblance of the Word though of their present time. -- Awesome Jim, thanks for the "Overcoming Faith" and Word of testimony! Bless and encourage your hearts!! Love You!!!
Thank you dear Callie, your kisses of Love really "Sings" and brightens the pathways with much fervor and glistening joy! Love you!!
Aloha Keys. Yes, I am not religious, but I have great respect for Luther and his work. He was a man of integrity. If he is portrayed in a movie as anything else, I'll say something about it. As to what "true religion" is is something for believers to discuss. I don't engage in those discussions. Mahalo.
Every word or sound has significance dear Nidifugous, "He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. (Matthew 12:30) Best of Love!
I heard there were plenty of job openings rolling on the floor laughing

Aloha Pedalguy Canada, my dad had many years with the Christian
foundation, a very talented musician and a stand-up bass player for the Church he attended off and on throughout the years. Testified to me of the changes in his life of the physical plains, though when he passed away in the early 90's went to the "Prison's" or "Purgatory"... just got out last year 2014, and graduating to "Spiritual Retraining". Had many wonderful revelations of our future relations, yet the "Point" was a matter of Heart (Not Mind Only) and having the right concepts in regards to Salvation. Pray this helps your understanding. God bless!
