Beeldstorm <statue storm>

There are some things
we can only learn in a storm..


Some weeks ago I painted my Wc, and hang-up a colourful poster of
Michiel de Ruyter...I had a fight about this with my dauther..

Of late I have been thinking about Beeldenstorm <Statue-storms> taking place all over the world..

Is this a kind of polictical correctness I ask myslef ??dunno

When I was a boy thay remove a very old tree to make room for a high way on the island this was no ordinary tree. This was a tree whear Paul Bogle hanged from..For me this was like the burning of books...

There are some history that we should not forget I think its important to know one history to see wheare one is going..
Some history will give us pain and some might make us laugh at oursleves..

Painting and destroying statues became very popular in South Africa mostly because the statues are mosly of white people. To me a statue is a piece of art so only ignorant, uneducated people will be stupid enough to destroy it. They had to remove a lot of statues and put it somewhere safe in order to prevent stupid people from destrying it. The most idiotic thing they done was to demand the removal of the statue of Rhodes in front of the university he funded. There were a lot of students studying with bursaries from his trust fund. The trustees decided to withdraw the bursaries after students demanded that the statue should be removed.
