Re: What am I smiling about?

For the curmudgeons out there, NO, I am not some Pollyanna who is mindlessly bubbly all the time. I have simply made a choice. It has been a long and bumpy road getting to this point in my life. I know every joy, every sorrow, every tickle, and every bruise; and it all goes into the mix that has made me who I am.

I understand that, for a great many people, life seems to have dealt them a less than fair deal. Perhaps even a very crappy deal. I cannot address such issues. These people have all the sympathy and vain attempts at understanding that I can possibly muster.

For the rest of us, we have been fortunate enough to have the option to CHOOSE how we wish to perceive life. Some actively choose the dark and negative. Some wander aimlessly through life, never actually making any real choice. I make NO value judgements. YOU have the right to your choices.

So do I. And My choice has been to simply .. be ... happy.

I cannot dwell on the insanities and sufferings and injustices that obviously exist in this world, indeed, in this universe.
And I hate to break it to you, but these things have ALWAYS existed, and probably ALWAYS will. (One of my favorite movie titles: "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb", aka "Dr Strangelove")

I can NOT change human nature. And I can NOT change the universe. But I CAN Choose HOW I am going to deal with my infinitesimally small corner of it. I CAN Choose to at least try and be one of those people that can cause others to forget the darkness and perhaps have an all too rare and carefree ... moment.

In my own, ignorant, humble opinion, I think that it may be such moments that allow most of us to continue this life.

Without such moments: there is no hope, we might just want to give up, curl up, and die.
WITH EVERY PARTICLE OF MY BEING, I REFUSE TO TAKE THIS PATH !
