Ruth Meets Boaz in the Grain Field2 Now Naomi had a relative on her husband’s side, a man of standing from the clan of Elimelek, whose name was Boaz.

And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.”

Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek.

Just then Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters, “The Lord be with you!”

“The Lord bless you!” they answered.

5Boaz asked the overseer of his harvesters, “Who does that young woman belong to?”

The overseer replied, “She is the Moabite who came back from Moab with Naomi. She said, ‘Please let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the harvesters.’ She came into the field and has remained here from morning till now, except for a short rest in the shelter.”

So Boaz said to Ruth, “My daughter, listen to me. Don’t go and glean in another field and don’t go away from here. Stay here with the women who work for me. Watch the field where the men are harvesting, and follow along after the women. I have told the men not to lay a hand on you. And whenever you are thirsty, go and get a drink from the water jars the men have filled.”

At this, she bowed down with her face to the ground. She asked him, “Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you notice me—a foreigner?”

Boaz replied, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before. May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

“May I continue to find favor in your eyes, my lord,” she said. “You have put me at ease by speaking kindly to your servant—though I do not have the standing of one of your servants.”

At mealtime, Boaz said to her, “Come over here. Have some bread and dip it in the wine vinegar.”

When she sat down with the harvesters, he offered her some roasted grain. She ate all she wanted and had some left over. As she got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his men, “Let her gather among the sheaves and don’t reprimand her. Even pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up, and don’t rebuke her.”

So Ruth gleaned in the field until evening. Then she threshed the barley she had gathered, and it amounted to about an ephah.[ She carried it back to town, and her mother-in-law saw how much she had gathered. Ruth also brought out and gave her what she had left over after she had eaten enough.

Her mother-in-law asked her, “Where did you glean today? Where did you work? Blessed be the man who took notice of you!”

Then Ruth told her mother-in-law about the one at whose place she had been working. “The name of the man I worked with today is Boaz,” she said.

“The Lord bless him!” Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. “He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead.” She added, “That man is our close relative; he is one of our guardian-redeemers.

Then Ruth the Moabite said, “He even said to me, ‘Stay with my workers until they finish harvesting all my grain.’”

Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It will be good for you, my daughter, to go with the women who work for him, because in someone else’s field you might be harmed.”

So Ruth stayed close to the women of Boaz to glean until the barley and wheat harvests were finished. And she lived with her mother-in-law.

WHERE DID WE COME FROM?

Whatever started the universe and then allowed life to exist and develop to what we are today must be quite a fantastic story if or whenever we discover what the real purpose of the whole event was.
When you look at all other creatures around us that possess brains that never develope beyond, eat, drink, escape preditors, reproduce. Even apes that have human like bodies, never change. Why were we given a superior intelligence? Just luck, a freak event or for a purpose?

The Book of Ruth;
Naomi Loses Her Husband and Sons
In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab. The man’s name was Elimelek, his wife’s name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there.

Now Elimelek, Naomi’s husband, died, and she was left with her two sons. They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years, both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.

Naomi and Ruth Return to Bethlehem
When Naomi heard in Moab that the Lord had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there. With her two daughters-in-law she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah.

Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go back, each of you, to your mother’s home. May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness to your dead husbands and to me. May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband.”

Then she kissed them goodbye and they wept aloud 10 and said to her, “We will go back with you to your people.”

But Naomi said, “Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands? Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me—even if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons— would you wait until they grew up? Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter for me than for you, because the Lord’s hand has turned against me!”

At this they wept aloud again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her.

“Look,” said Naomi, “your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her.”

But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.

So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women exclaimed, “Can this be Naomi?”

“Don’t call me Naomi,” she told them. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.”

So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.

He couldnt afford her medical bills So

RE: He couldn't afford her medical bills. So...

Here's a question from those who live in countries with National Health - what DOES happen if you are 73 and run out of money to cover the medical bills? Does the hospital turn the patient out to die in the street, or do they euthanase?

I genuinely want to know because Google was a bit vague on the subject. "Affecting your credit rating" doesn't really address the reality of ongoing medical bills and no money (bar presumably a pension) left.

In the UK her medical bills would be covered by NHS - ditto in Spain - so I wondered what the American solution to unaffordable medical care was and why this old fella didn't go for it.

What Makes Jesus Unique No one else made the claims that He did He is aliveonline today!

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

The primary message of Judges is that God will not allow sin to go unpunished. As Exodus established, Israel was God’s people—He was their King. They had forsaken the covenant established at Mount Sinai. In Judges, He disciplined them for following other gods, disobeying His sacrificial laws, engaging in blatant immorality, and descending into anarchy at times. Yet because they were His people, He listened to their cries for mercy and raised up leaders to deliver them. Unfortunately, even these godly individuals did not wield sufficient influence to change the nation’s direction. The people’s inability to resist sinful Canaanite influences eventually revealed their desire for a centralized monarchy, led by a righteous king whom God would choose as His intermediary.

How do I apply this?
Memory is a gift. Remembering the past teaches us countless lessons about how to live today. The Israelites forgot. They did not remember the miraculous events that brought them to their land or the covenant that united them to their God. But God did not forget His covenant—and because of His great love for His people, He disciplined His sinful children so that they might return to Him.

Have you forgotten the great works God has done in your life? Perhaps your difficult circumstances are overpowering your faith. Do you feel as if He is disciplining you right now? Know that He disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:5–11). Return to Him. Remember, trust, and obey. He is waiting with open arms.

Every Syrian hamster alive today descends from a single brother-sister pairing but they do all look alike

Yet - how can members of a single species look so different - I will consult with my chihuahua and my St Bernard and get back to you on that

The Adam and Eve thing, most intelligent people understand that bible stories weren't initially written down - the oldest text found is under 3000 years old. Back when hardly anyone could read or write, stories which caught the fancy, were easily remembered, and could be passed on, lasted longest. Taking the bible as literal is - well, no point going there. You know what, there probably wasn't a snake, either and yet here you, a fervent atheist, are, some 4000 years down the line, able to quote from Genesis. It worked!

The only theory that really resonates with me is that Earth was the penal colony for an advanced race elsewhere in the galaxy and we are today the result of the transported rejects which interbred with the local dominant species around at the time. We have the brilliance of our spacefaring ancestors well mixed with the flawed genes of being the misfits, and a genetic injection from the interbreeding. Explains a lot. If nothing else, how homo sapiens is the only species on the planet with a true chin and considering they are fairly useless things, they certainly aren't an evolutionary development. But as to who created that original advanced race, ya got me.

There's actual thought in that answer, looking forward to seeing which tube shoots it down fastest without a second's reflection ... .

WHERE DID WE COME FROM

WHERE DID WE COME FROM?

Talk of Satan, demons, Nephilhims, angels, God or god's, disagreeing with each other and waging war.
Was this a fight for control over this planet by superior technological forces? Were the fallen angels a force that decided to remain in control but then incurred the rath of their leader? The book of Enoch which was edited out of modern bibles was an account that wasn't enjoyed by senior church leaders.
The story of Goliath appears to suggest giants were around( Nephilhims).
Elongated skull represented by a certain Egyptian Pharaoh together with unusual shaped body suggest possible extra terrestrial individual.

WHERE DID WE COME FROM

RE: WHERE DID WE COME FROM?

There is much archeological evidence all around the planet to suggest that Extraterrestrial Gods came to earth to foster mankind. The proper hebrew name to round up all of them was Elohim other than Yaweh. Even Jesus cried out to Elohim on his moment on the cross. ELOI ELOI LAMA SABATHANI which translated as my God my God why hast thou forsaken me.

Perhaps the idea that he was crying out to all of the Extraterrestrial Gods in the hope to be saved.

To consider most all archeological sites such as the obvious pyramids in Egypt and Central America the Nasca lines in Peru the glyphs in England were built so large to be seen from the sky.
Many sanskrit writings along with Mayan and Aztec codexes all spoke about gods flying in spaceships.
Most all archeological sites were built of stone that was cut symetrically and dragged miles into a clearing that often was precisely aligned to the stars.
That couldnt have come solely by the technology of the average stone age cave man.

We can all come up with the religious theories of our origin, but what is your belief?
Was there a creator? Was there a plan for our existence, or are we an experiment?

WHERE DID WE COME FROM

WHERE DID WE COME FROM?

Regarding Noah's ark, most unlikely that all those animals could exist together, or even have been rounded up in the first place. More feasible if the DNA of creatures could have been collected and later reused, but that would have taken some superior intelligence and intervention.
And if the occupants of the Ark were to create the new inhabitants of the earth, then they would have a formidable task to come up with diversification of humans. Other religions have similar story to survive the flood.
Reason for flood, either warming of planet after ice age, or god's intervention, or according to Enoch, the fallen angels who refused to return to their celestial home after mixing with earthly women. Take your pick here.

WHERE DID WE COME FROM

RE: WHERE DID WE COME FROM?

Genesis 6 in the Bible speaks of the Nephilhim which is a Hebrew term " Those from heaven fell to earth" many call them fallen angels or The sons of God saw the daughters of men and took them as wives and bore children unto them.

The issue or problem to consider under the Hebrew texts which forms the old testament of such, one needs to compare other texts from other cultures such as the Mesopotamian, Babylonian,Sumerians, and Akkadian. These other cultures speak about plural dieties along with Egyptian Greek Roman etc. Only the Hebrew texts speak of one God and the Genesis story.

Yet, it is suggested the Hebrew texts was borrowed from the Sumerian Babylonian and the overall consensus from Sumer and Babylonia they all came from Extraterrestrial Gods.

To consider that why every other culture aside Judea Christian ideals they all believe in a pantheon of gods.
Only Judaism and Christian believe in one God.

In Genesis 6 God speaks to undocumented host of entities "Let us make man in our image in our likeness"
When God saw how people of the earth were of one tongue one culture with perhaps one goal to serve the gods. They were attempting to build a name for themselves lest they be scattered it was interpreted as a tower. Hence, known as the tower of Babel.

However, under the Sumerian and Babylonian context a name was a rocket.
A rocket to reach heaven to be with the gods.

When God saw this his response was Behold man has become like one of us, Let us go down and confound their language.
This was the start of different languages as people were scattered and lost contact of their original language. They learned to adapt to environmental conditions and basically had to start over.

Then when God saw how people were behaving once again he regretted making man because they were just not evolving according to his liking.

Yet, a little less known story from the sumerian texts about the shifting of the earth which caused the flood of Noah.

Hence, here is where civilization at that time was destroyed or disrupted once again.
Noah which is known by Sumer Mesopotamian texts is because he was a Mesopotamian.

So, God tells Noah and his family to build an Ark or boat to spare the animals and his family and so, once again the human race started over by Noah and his 3 sons and their wives.
Everyone should know the rest of that tale. In essence the current human culture was evolved through Noah and his family. Followed by Abraham who was the great great grandson of Noah.
Both the Arab and Jewish cultures recognize Abraham as the father of both nations.

Neanderthals were quite intelligent.

They engaged in many practices associated with modern man, including music ... recreations of their instruments show a preference for minor keys.

"Intelligence" is kinda subjective.

As modern man is making the assessment, we may have a bias against those different from us.

Strong Evidence of Neanderthal intelligence ...
They existed in a time/place of extreme cold.

In a harshly challenging environment, "stupid" would be inconsistent with survival of the fitest and keeping oneself in the gene pool.
