Your Lucky Seven

Lets face it. You are one lucky person. We all are.
All those sperm & only 1 egg, and somehow, one beat the odds and combined to make you and then you made it out alive. Way to go !

Another reason you are lucky, is because today, of all days, you get to see
7 of my recent nature photos. OK perhaps not quite like winning the lottery of life,
but perhaps a lot less pain in seeing the photos, than what you might encounter in some other aspects of life.
Plus, not everyone can see....at all. Lucky you !

First here's some background music for lucky people to enjoy, while looking at the photos;

All photos were taken by me with my Canon T6i camera with a Sigma 50-500 mm lens.

First photo up is of a female Goldfinch. Goldfinches are the state bird of New Jersey.
Their diet is almost entirely seeds.
Like cuckoos, there is another bird, that lays eggs in the goldfinch nest.
However, after they hatch, they only survive about 3 days, because, unlike the goldfinches,
they can't survive on an exclusive seed diet.

Next up is the male goldfinch. None his black wings and black patch adjacent to his beak;

Each couple has their own unique call, which
helps them distinguish their partner from others.
Within the couple, the calls are almost identical between the pair.

Random photo blog

Just an array of random pics. That I take of day to day things that interest me or peak my interest. Some are from my cheap phone camera, while some are from my NIKON. I am not a professional by any means, this is just a passion of mine. I've been told, and wanting to myself, to join some classes to expand my limited knowledge of photography. Tell me what you think, like, dislike or enjoy about my photos please!

This Mainer may be the earliest-born person to ever be photographed

Photography didn’t become commonplace until the 1840s, which means there aren’t very many photographs of people born before the 1770s. One of the surviving portraits before that time, however, is of a man from Maine who served in the Revolutionary War and reportedly lived into his 100s. He may be the earliest-born person to have ever been photographed.

Conrad Heyer, born in Waldoboro in 1749, was photographed in 1852 at the whopping age of 103. The image — a daguerreotype, the earliest widely available form of photography — is believed to be the earliest-born American to be photographed alive, though some historians dispute that. It also may be that Heyer was not only the earliest-born American — he may be the earliest born person, period, as other photographs of earlier-born people have yet to be discovered.

Some Newer Nature Photos by me

Here's 7 photos that I presented at a local photo club.
They enjoyed them.
Now here for your viewing...... pain or pleasure. laugh

They were all taken shortly after the huge snow storm we received here in New Jersey,
about 18 inches on average with drifts even higher.

First there was a fairly warm day and I went to a small waterfall that I know.
I knew that some of the snow would be melting and make for a nice flow for the waterfall.
So, I went crunching through 2 feet of snow for 150 yards or so to get there & photograph it;

I also caught a naked tree silhouette of a cloudy sunset another evening;

Right after I took that photo a small black mink walked almost
over my feet. By the time I switched lenses, it disappeared. dunno

These next 2 are of a female redtail hawk, probably trying to lure me away
from her nest, even though I never saw her nest, while crunching through the woods.
Shortly after these 2 photos she flew higher up in a further away tree
and progressively did it a second time when I followed her. Smart bird.
