"Tip the canoe and eat Tyler too".
Always good to try for a high fiber diet.

"I bet, that if I take off my clothes, I'll be more likely to attract a mermaid."
In general I think kayaking is suited to lakes & rivers, not an ocean.
In much bigger bodies of water, a much bigger boat is much more appropriate.
When I was in secondary school, I got to go Kayaking in a swimming pool. So the PE teacher told us that the way to get out was "Ok you turn over tap on the bottom 3 times and you will just slide out.

So I turned it over, Slapped on the bottom with my hands. And nothing happened. wow

Que total panic. help

I honestly have no idea how I slid out but surfaced and the PE teacher was in knots laughing. Turns out I took the instructions too literally. The other problem is that I was too big for the biggest Kayak they had. The outer sides of my leg were all scratched from the Sides of the Kayak entrance as I panicked my way out.

So that's why I don't go Kayaking wine
I prefer to be in a large canoe, especially in gator infested waters.
In a kayak, you're too much like in a food delivery vehicle, and you are the food.
The fool saw the shadow of my blimp in the water, look at him frightful. rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Desperation for food has been known to push a man to take greater risks.
Sometimes one has to do, what he has to do..... to survive. head banger
I'm here to tell y'all -
Folks swim a Helluva lot closer with sharks than they Ever realize.

Flying over water along beaches & looking straight Down Into the water, one can Clearly see sharks Much closer to blissfully ignorant swimmers than the people would guess in their Wildest imaginings.

cowboy
I don't doubt that at all.
Another take on Eskimo hunting ...
Folks Vastly underestimate the effectiveness of the .243 Win. rifle & .357 Mag Revolver.

Or - More Accurately - Folks are Convinced those cartridges are less adequate ...
By companies selling .338 Win. Mag rifles & .44 Magnum revolvers.

And crossing the Gulf Stream in small boats is denounced as suicidal -
By builders of 40' - 50' vessels.

And some folks simply don't Buy the Sales Pitches!

Forget Florida to the Bahamas!
This is the Smallest vessel type to make the passage from California to Hawaii ...
wow
And - the story goes - the California to Hawaii solo mariner used a .22 pistol to dispatch a shark deemed too close to the boat for comfort.

The same vessel was then sold to a missionary who used it for Years (Decades?) to visit his congregations on various islands ... smile

Would I(!) have ever attempted such a voyage ... dunno
But I'd prob'ly have done That rather than use such a boat to get a Real Close look at a Polar Bear.

cowboy
Can't say one way or the other For Sure if the OP pic is Legit or Faked. ... dunno

From what I've Seen flying over beaches ... I'd say it's at least Plausible.

BTW -
Flying low over beaches in helicopters -
More Interesting activity occurred a few dunes Back from the crowded Beach.
banana ... wink

cowboy
I wonder if this was playing in the kayaker's ear buds at the time;

Jim likes doom and gloom. can't desire good and free. that's a bad combination
B - it's almost impossible to tell what it is. I stopped it several times.
It just isn't clear enough. It's low quality video and it even seems to be altered a bit.
There's a rectangle area that looks like it was digitally added.

My best GUESS, is orca.
