RE: Charlaine Harris: Sookie Stackhouse Series

I read the books way before True Blood came out and I had a hard time adjusting to so many changes, not just to the plot lines but to the characters themselves. I've got nothing against the actors but none of them fit the characters as described by Ms Harris.

The books are better than the series by a long shot, as is often the case. Books can give far more indepth descriptions of thoughts and feelings that actors {no matter how good} usually fail to project. Sookie's exploits draw you in from the start and keep you coming back for more. Wondering what will happen as she gets drawn further and further into the world of the supernatural.

Vampires are out of their coffins and the world is coming to terms with having something from myth and legend proven to be fact. With more surprises in store as the series unfolds, including the reason behind Sookie's telepathy.

Charlaine Harris: Sookie Stackhouse Series

After Bill and Sookie have a major fight in Dallas-they split uo. She goes on to the way her life was before Bill and he starts seeing someone else. When they see each other out with "others" this is what ensues. A little taste as to why I love these books so muchdevil grin

'As I unlocked the front door Bill came out of the darkness. Without a word, he grabbed my arm and turned me toward him, and then he kissed me. In a minute we were pressed against the door with his body moving rhythmically against mine. I reached one hand behind myself to fumble with the lock, and the key finally turned. We stumbled into the house, and he turned me to face the couch. I gripped it with my hands and, just as I imagined, he pulled down my pants, and then he was in me.
I made a hoarse noise I’d never heard come from my throat before. Bill was making noises equally as primitive. I didn’t think I could form a word. His hands were under my sweater, and my bra was in two pieces. He was relentless. I almost collapsed after the first time I came. “No,” he growled when I was flagging, and he kept pounding. Then he increased the pace until I was almost sobbing, and then my sweater tore, and his teeth found my shoulder. He made a deep, awful sound, and then, after long seconds, it was over. I was panting as if I’d run a mile, and he was shivering too. Without bothering to refasten his clothing, he turned me to face him, and he bent his head to my shoulder again to lick the little wound. When it stopped bleeding and begun healing, he took off everything I had on, very slowly. He cleaned me below; he kissed me above.'

Read this book about six years ago, I remember it presenting a fascinating new outlook and information to the more commonly accepted Western version of the discovery of the America's, at least in this part of the world.

RE: dan brown: the da vinci code

i threw this book out a window. it's awful. badly written rubbish. almost every page is taken up with clumsy expedition and the main character's only reactions to the unfolding events are either shock, amazement, surprise or intrigue. on almost every page you will read, - joey was amazed to discover or joey was surprised to discover or joey was intrigued to discover. dan brown cannot write. i bought this book for 50p out of a charity shop and i still felt ripped off.

RE: Dr. Brian Weiss: Many Lives Many Masters

this book is hard to digest for some who dont see the continuity
of life after life until peace or rather the evolution of identity from square one being ignorant of it and back to square one with the knowledge of it , i mean one's own identity or source.
I was happy the faculty of psychiatry started seeing the light from a new angle wondering how to connect the microcosm with the macrocosm.

RE: Stephenie Meyer: The Twilight saga collection

I have to say, I was also assuming this series was more geared for silly teenagers who didn't have a life. Woops. :) I have too many favorite chapters in each book to pick one that is my most beloved. I love them all.

I think what I like most about the series is that Stephanie Meyer is a great author--there aren't many out there than can still surprise me. The fact that she remained original through out 4 whole books was quite impressive.

Edward & Bella have the kind of love we all dream of. The type that says they would rather die than be separated. Romeo and Juliet. ;)

I was very disappointed with the movie myself, but I do plan to go see New Moon when it comes out--just because. :) The books are just so much more in depth..there's something in reading them that can't be conveyed by acting..

RE: Thomas Hardy: The Woodlanders

woodlanders is my favourite of thomas hardy's collection all of which i treasure. woodlanders caught my drifting thoughts focused and assimilated the simple beauty of the language the story the irony and the words something like "philosophy will be enough for me but you! only GOD can help you!!" an absolute stunner that line.
