at the supermarket just now.

I get to the check out
and aaaaaasss bloody usual
in German Supermarkets
there is a huuuuuuuuge queue!

So I hang around a minute
or two
assessing whether its stuck
or moving...

But no.
No movement.
People rummaging for change
people searching for plastic cards...

So I walk up to the check-out-chick
saying friendly:
Would you please be so kind and open another cash register?

Silence.

I get ignored.

I repeat my question
somewhat uncomfortable
because now everyone is staring at me.

black leather coat
black knee high boots
purple woolen & kneelong dress

I want to disappear.

I say: Would you please be so kind and open another cash register?

She rings the bell twice.
Thats the code for the other staff.
I know meanwhile,
but she didnt say anything.

So I approach her again,
"Which register would that be,please?"

No reply!

Inside I am fuming....very mad
but am not showing it.
I ask again,
and she mutters THREE under her breath.

As I turn on my heel
walking to that check out,
the last person to join the queue
heard it all and walks
right in front of me
plonking her couple of things
on the desk.

There was no eye-contact with me,
asking whether I'd mind,
let along a verbal question...

WHAT WOULD YOU DO NOW???

Also would you think
her action was polite???

I would've said 'Do you mind..I was first'
And if she gives me a dirty look and carries on emptying her trolley...i'll drop something from her items or make her feel guilty by saying to the cashier " this is sooo right isn't it." grin

She mouthed off,
when I walked past her
placed my stuff right in front
of her,
emptying the bags
on the tape of the till...

She just couldnt stop...
putting the blame on me
can you believe it????

Chrrrrrrrriiiiiist frustrated

shot3743: I would rather have have my balls cut off than get into an altercation or even join in the fracas that occurs when a new check out is opened upat Aldi's. When the cry of Bitte an Kasse sowieso auflegen peals out and the waiting shoppers leap forward with their heavily laden carts, medium sized Scotchman that I am is concerned more with avoiding getting trolley tyre marks over my sensible footwear.

I believe in taking breaks wherever I find them .... and queus are just another excuse to stand back and relax, and wait........

Same with airline seats - I usually always get a nice seat with extra leg-room. Only once did I end up opposite the toilet door, and that was because I allowed myself to get ansy about getting a "good seat" again!grin

Time ...... is too precious to waste getting annoyed, and relaxation time is even more precious.......cheers

Try to remember, with everything .... "This too shall pass"....

Germany is generally known for bad and arrogant retail customer service thumbs down

Just last week - I thought to get a few items over quiter lunch time in a well known German discounter - all went well till I wanted to pay..
The only cash point open - closed right in front of my nose - saying she would be right back - there I stood waiting for minutes - after a while I called ...Hello anyone here ???
Also another customer behind me got annoyed he started calling too... when she finally came away from talking to a collegue - making a angry face, with nothing better to do then wanting to argue "how unfriendly and impatient customers are"... doh

So many shops would be so easy to run were it not for the customers coming in and making the place noisy and untidy! professor laugh
