This is pretty common down here on the Gulf Coast and in the tourist area I live. No one would think anything about it. We have 1,000's of tourist in our nightclubs everynight. The dress code is pretty relaxed.

On a serious side!! I am not opposed to men wearing sandals in a club, as John said, it's much more relaxed in the south. BUT...I think on a DATE...it's not appropriate!

I see nothing wrong with it at all...I'm as likely during warm weather to be wearing a pair Birks...without the backstrap, most likely. But then, the places I go to, we're going to be in jeans and a t-shirt, too.
Even in a fancier club, I honestly see nothing wrong with it.

I'd have no problem with it,but He'd have a job geting a nice dressy pair. Men's sandals-from what I see in the shops-have little in the way of variety and seem for the most part to be severely utilitarian in design:chunky,unornamented, hard-wearing,brown and black leather etc. Very dreary

I will wear sandals at every possible occassion, since it is the most convenient way to show off my tumpa feet.

Oh dear - sandals on a date? You are kidding, aren't you? Sandals on a date, unless it's a date on a beach, are a NO NO. Sandals in a city are a no no. Sandals with socks are a no no. Sandals with formal wear (such as a suit) are a no no. They are for casual, touristy wear on or near the beach or in hot sunny weather.
