You folks really need to make it possible ... or if it is possible already, easier to find... to block IMs from people like we can for e-mails... Scammers have shifted gears and gotten ahead of the site by just IM'ing now and no emails being sent so I have not been able to block them and it is getting annoying since they apparently use multiple individuals on single accounts etc as well... Anyway just an idea to consider.

Thanks,
me

Many of us just have it turned off because of this. If I want to IM with someone from here, I take it to Yahoo IM. wine

Sometimes .. well most times I have had to just turn it off.. I turn it on if a friend wants to chat.. but then, there they are.. and not much you can do, but tell them that you wish to be contacted by mail first, before they IM... Yeh good luck with that.. doh

I just delete it and they leave me alone. But if it
becomes bothersome I will just shut it off.

Thanks much, I really appreciate the suggestions I simply would rather be able to leave it on and block them just as we can in E-mails since that way other could message if they wished. I don't use yahoo anyway so was just trying to make it where we had a choice other then all or nothing with the IM'ing.

Again though thank you all for the suggestions, I may just have to shut them down if it keeps on like it has been.

Take care,
me wave

You could just play games with them. Keep mentioning your private island, private jet and how difficult it is to run a corporation, and then keep teasing them with imaginary money they'll never get. tongue

When the IM box pops up, there is a block icon on the right hand side.

Then you dont get IM's from serious people. Scammers also contact directly and don't show up on people who have viewed you, it's difficult. I, on another site get lots and now l find that l am reporting them, they are being taken off, then they come back with a different 'nik', when l go to block them they are already blocked................because of the IP addres.

Here l do not get many contact me but l go looking for them!.
