I got a new Chevy pickup in the 80's and went through an engine, two transmissions and a rear end in 20,000 miles. Never did buy another Chevy.

Hugz_n_Kissez: Welllllll then I'll just have to keep it in tip top shape sooooooooo maybe it'll be my last car..before I need a motorized scooter....

Maybe now would be a good time to buy stock in a scooter company, with all the Boomers getting incapacitated.

My deceased dad's September 1963 Ford Super Anglia had over 760,000 miles 'on the clock' (actually clock only went up to 99,999 miles) when featured in a national newspaper about 15 years ago............ I believe it's done nearly 1,000,000 miles now!

this is all just more right wing propaganda crap! It was made clear that the U.S. "is not interested in running General Motors or Chrysler" Oops! Did we forget that in the barrage of right wing republican propaganda??

Did we forget what was said that if Chrysler failed to partner with Fiat, then Chrysler would fail and get no more money. Chrysler would simple be gone? Oops! must have missed that little bit of his speech!!doh

This is just another "My man lost, so let's attack everything that is done by the winner, and try to make him look bad" gang, that can find nothing outside of the republican party that is good!

Get over yourselves and you FOX news interpretations!

NeWildflower: No, I didn't say any such thing about the Republican's being innocent. And they are not. There are no lilly white politicians out there, nor are their lilly white political parties. The democratic martyr syndrome is just a little tiresome at this point.. Here..I'll loan you this crowbar so you can pry yourself and Obama off of that self imposed cross!!

Come ON folks.. I'm not pinning it all on Obama. I'm not. I'm not happy that he's got a VERY imbalanced congress to work with here. I don't believe that this is going to get our country anywhere good.

I used the word doomed out of frustration. I'm having a difficult time seeing how America is going to come out of this one smelling like a rose, because I'm not seeing that Obama has the country's best interst at heart. But believe it or not, I pray for him every day. I pray for him to make wise choices, and that God will help him to keep America's best interest at the heart of the decisions he makes and the plans he makes for her. I just get the feeling that he is a puppet and not really making these choices on his own. That his strings are being pulled by others who have even less concern for our country. And that's where Im coming from.

I'm not mad because my guy lost. I didn't have a guy in the race. I felt that America was screwed regardless, and while I didn't feel that this man was even close to the best guy for the job, I still pray that he will somehow get it right.

I'm just not seeing anything that gives me hope yet.

What she is saying is...she hasn't seen him undo everything that was given to him, in sixty days! everything should be corrected by now!!

Oh well, I guess I just had this crazy concept that capitalism was 'the survival of the fittest' and boy - was I wrong!

I know it's not funny, but supporting a company that can't compete = more pain in the future............. you either have state control of industry or you don't - trying to do both immediately creates conflicts of interest and conflicts of interest make a bad problem worse!

I feel very sorry for those who shall inevitably lose their jobs; is pretending they have a real job now better than the truth hitting them later?

The world produces more cars than it can sell - and has the capacity to produce millions more than it can sell........... surely it'd be better to let the most efficient companies survive so that we can all benefit? confused

Self imposed cross? What's that supposed to mean?

I not really an Obama fan, but do feel he was a far better choice than McCain, and it was going to be one or the other.

I don't trust any politicians, anywhere, and doubt very much they have any real control of anything, even their policies. So I don't see where you get off blaming a man that's been in office for two months, for everything bad that's happened in America.
I also don't see how it's his fault that Chrysler and GM are going down the tubes and were building crap for decades. Would you kindly answer that, if you can?

I don't blame Obama for everything first of all. Seems like that's all it takes around here is for someone to mention his name in a Non WAlking on Water light, and suddenly you're blaming him for everything that's gone wrong... if you're not a fan of his, maybe you can understand where I am coming from as a non fan too.

Also, I don't think it is his fault for Chrysler and GM going down the tubes.. care to show me where I said that??

My complaint was that Obama was given the power to fire someone in a corporate setting.. regardless of how much I agreed that the dude needed to be fired!! What does that say for our country? That's my issue!

As far as the cross.. well.. it's pretty self explanatory..such martyrs we have here.. whining constantly that the mean old republicans are blaming Obama for everything wrong in America..
Don't count me in. I complain about the things that scare me, and the things that don't seem right, and if the shoe fits.. well surely help him put it on. If it doesn't, say so and quit whining!

toranoga: It is official, today March 30,2009 Obama Motor Works(OMW) is formed. Now we will see how an auto company is to be run. Harken back to the great motor cars of Vauxhall in the 1950's and 60's when Britain nationalised industry.
The UAW was beside themselves with joy when the announcement was made as it protects their retirement and legacy costs with taxpayer dollars. The head of the Lansing, MI UAW was confident that all GM needed was a new leader with vision.
Having never run a business, or worked in one for that matter, Obama can look at the auto industry with an unbiased view.
Government has the best and brightest and we welcome the new era of efficient nationalisation.
Go get em Barack!

You're right....he should close them down and lose the jobs....Japan needs them!

Did you have the same indignation when GW Bush fired the heads of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Or AIG?? People seem to forget that Bush fired three executives before Obama ever fired anyone!! Where was all this indignation then?? It's not like the first time this has happened!! But it is the first time a black democrat did itfrustrated

pretzelman: No one called YOU anything. It was a general statement. I can see you can't debate anything without personal insults.

I have never seen such vehement response to a new president...even those who were upset that GW may not have been really elected, didn't have the vehemence that has been hoisted upon this man!! Questioning his birth place, even. There is something more to their hatred of him, than the fact that he is a Democrat!!

And I can see you can't put your own personal dramatic feelings aside to do so either..
I can only speak for myself. I don't hate Obama because he is a democrat. I hate that he is the president of my country because I don't think he can do the job. He's in over his head. I believe there is something else much more insidious that lies behind him and pulls his strings. Call me a conspiracy theorist, call me whatever you want.. except an Obot! ;)

Anyone who took over over after GW Bush is in over their head. Does anyone really think McCain could have have corrected all the wrong in two months? All I am asking is that people give him a chance!!handshake

I SAID I pray for him! lol. And I really do. I don't want him to fail.. because if he fails, we all fail. And at times it's just very scary the way things look.
