I now know that it is meant for us to watch for the deer but I actually thought at first it was where the deer were to cross the road. Wondered how they knew they should cross there. I know I was dumb.rolling on the floor laughing

YOu see, deer are very smart...LOL.. they study the roadways very well,, and find the spot on the road that they are most likely to get hit at... and that is what they do, those dumbies..laugh

They are very smart I lived next to a reserve and no one could hunt there so the deer stood on that side of the road by the hundreds but the hunting area had none.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Yea,they do know where they are protected at..And they know when they hear that first gunshot, to head straight there..

It could be that that is the place where the deer
always crossed themselves, their own track, so the
sign was put there.

Many animals have regular paths they follow.

Deer must have excellent vision to see the road signs. I'm guessing the ones that get hit probably couldn't read the "deer crossing" signs and probably needed glasses.

Learning English had its problems with phrases like: be alert; I asked what is a lert... told to behave made me wonder what a have was or how to be one...ah well...laugh
