livinglarge: Will never forget it Gra,
was at work in London when it was announced on the radio.
At first the media was blaming hooligan and I was soooo angry.
But then (half ) the awful truth emerged.
R.I.P. to the men ,women and chlidren who tragically lost thier
lives.
Its still distresses me to this day LL, so many stories of personal lose and grief, so many wrongs need to be put right. Maybe one day the guilty ones will own up and ease the suffering of many.
This is a copy of my post in the Ireland forums.
I will never forget the sight of those fantastic Liverpool supporters ferrying the injured across the pitch, whilst the emergency services stood around with apparent indifference. My heart goes out to the families and friends of those who suffered on that terrible day. I can only hope we never see anything like this again and the hurt suffered by all involved eases with the passing of time.
It's one of those occasions where many of us will remember where we were & what we were doing at the time. I was working in a furniture factory when the terrible news came on the radio

R.I.P. The ninety six.
That is beautiful Gra.
I remember those people too .
The ones pushed up to the fence and struggling for breath.
I remember the police trying to stop innocent people fron invading the pitch unknowingly , thinking they were trying to start trouble. When in fact they were fighting for thier lives. I am not ashamed to say I cried like the rain for these unfortunate people

I was just listening to a couple who traveled down from London with their two young daughters to follow Liverpool on that day. They had to return home without them, they had to leave them in the temporary mortuary at the ground. But most distressing of all is the police after informing the their daughters had died began grilling them about their movements before the match. Suggesting they had been drinking the police apparently showed no compassion whatsoever No parent should have been made to suffer this.
I have a bit of memory of this and after reading this wondering exactly what the media here (in US) reported. I do recall it being headlined as overly zealous "hooligans" starting a riot and a stampede ensued. Now I see there is so much more to the story than I recall.
My sincerest condolences to all who have suffered. Warm wishes to all who remember and keep the memory alive.

I know ,it is awful.
And am I right in saying that Duckenfield hindered the inquiry?
He gave no help whatsoever to those grieving families

No I didn't hear it Trish. I did see some time ago the documentary shown about the terrible events on that day and the awful aftermath. It was in fact almost too distressing to watch. We can only hope one day, justice will be done.

Has there been coverage on the TV today Trish ?
It would be nice to think that tributes were paid .
Don't forget also the plane craash in 1970 that took the lives of an entire football team, coaches, fans, crew...The Marshall Thundering Herd, of Marshall College in Huntington ,West Virginia.
