I am new to computers by intention and have been told by some of the, 'you must have' people I know, that I must get Skype !!
Because I spend money on what interests me, rather than others,
my answer is always the same
'Why do I need it?' - Just for some further education I Googled to try and find out some basic explanations and choices etc but all I saw was saw this

It may be of some use if you can understand it, but to me mud is clearer and by choice I will not bother any further.

Simplle laymans terms MNS and Yahoo aren't compatable with other O/S...(unless of cousre you clone it and then tweak it a bit)...

In general if someone is one a windows os and somebody else is on linux for example Skpye is the easiet way to communicate with. Because MNS wont work on Linux...It aint rcoket science..

Basically the same people who write the programmes for windows(only they do it in their spare time)...Also Linux is a far more user friendly OS the billy boys gates (windows 7 exlcuded)..

Not to mention there is a lot less virus's to be found on linux...

Of course, Linux was excellent since it was invented by a Finn. But got corrupt like everything else in this world. I'm waiting for Skype to go corrupt too. I don't know about MSN and Yahoo because MSN live messenger was super cumbersome and disturbing, don't know if that has changed any but am not willing to try. Yahoo IM is easy to use but I didn't even know you could talk using it. To me Skype is a well designed program and I'm happy with it - of course less trouble with the quality of the calls would be desired but seems they are trying hard to make it more userfriendly. Just hope it won't go corrupt and start costing money.conversing

For once mindfull I agree with you...There are other options open apart from skype...And less expensive too...

If MNS and Yahoo work for you ...Well the old saying.."If it aint broke...don't fix it" applies..
