zee1ander: To put her to death should be a crime against stupid people....
damn, now I'm sounding like a liberal.... get those voices out of my head.

Actually Zee, it is a law in their country and if she was willing to take the risk then possibly she should pay the consequences, although I do find death a harsh punishment for the crime. If one travels overseas one should read up on that country's laws in which they are planning on visiting, even if planning an illegal act. Maybe she would have thought twice had she known.........
SensualVixen: of the foreign Country when you decide to transport a 1/2 kilo of coke into a foreign land.
A seven month pregnant English women is set to be sentenced to death in Laos for this crime.
A bit harsh but it's their country and their laws. I hope if this is carried out they wait until the baby is born.
I would guess the British government will try to get her out of there or at least have the sentence reduced. She has made herself into a good Laotian bargaining chip.
lets just hope she is not put to death,as for the baby it is pretty innocent in this and I would hope to think the courts anywhere would see this and at the very least allow the baby to be born....And I agree she will become a bargaining chip I am sure

I was in Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield/Storm. During that time there was a woman from a western country arrested for stealing. She was sentenced to have her hand chopped off. Her government was successful in reducing the sentence to have her hand surgically removed. I guess that was better than having it done with a sword.
moonlightstar: Wont get any Symapathy from me......for Baby yes.
People that do these things are so dumb.....
I am not in favor of the death sentance that is just me. The laws in other places are somtimes very harsh and you must live with the law of the land. I am just hoping they will see the baby as a victim and wait. I do not have much sympathy for the girl but sometimes they are simply mules and have no idea what is going on.I know no excuse, but just saying that some poor girl is sucked in by some drug cartel with lots of money for her and the baby. I don't know this to be a fact ,but a senario perhaps.

Maybe our country would have less crime as well if we used justice like this.........
SensualVixen: I'd be headless, because Saudi's also behead women who speak out, are opinionated, swear, gamble, drink, or drive....I only do 2 of the 6........

So are they going to wait until the child is born?
Cuz after all, the child didn't commit a crime.
And suppose they wait until the child is born, mind you it might take that long anyway for the wheels to be in motion, will they then set about killing the mother and leave the child without its mother as soon as it enters the world?
Anyway, in respect to your thread topic. I would say that woman knew perfectly well the laws of the country. So stupid and sad. But we don't know what forces might have been brought to bear on the woman for her to do something so risky.
