One thing I did learn in a run-in from police recently. Not to try to lie to them. They take that personally. laugh

I left the scene with no citations, merely a warning, just by being honest. So, never let it be said that they're unreasonable people. Some of them may be, but, like any other organization with a diverse constituency, it takes all kinds. thumbs up

Ah, well that one went over my head, but now you have dorected me correctly to the right place.

I still think you suit Jim.

Don't ask me why. I wouldn't call you Jim if you pulled me over in my car. I would say, 'What can I do for you Officer?'

Galactic_bodhi: I don't blame the police as much as I blame the law-makers. They just enforce the laws they're handed.

Here's a true story. I used to live right on a main thoroughfare here in PDX. I was sitting on my porch one night and I counted 32 patrol cars whizzing by code two, lights flashing but no sirens. Here I am thinking, jeez a major terrorist event, or a bank robbery, or something.

10 minutes later, I had to cruise down that same street for a reason I can't recall. All the cruisers were at Krispy Kreme. Was it being robbed? No, they were having a sale on day old donuts.

And that deserves a Code 2?

Sommerauer71: I am a teacher.

Like any civil service career, there is always room for criticism.

What gets me is those who do not do the job, blame us for not getting it right.

If you feel you could do better, then join the civil service.

I dont know what its like in your country but here government work is not easy to get into as they have the best benifits , good pay and best perks... moping wow really.

But really, the firefighters and the police station is near where I live. There have been a couple close calls. I lived with just my little sister after all.

Hi HS and welcome. I can understand that in your position it is probably advisable not to post a clearer picture of yourself on your profile but it may not help you with getting a date on here.

Perhaps a picture just of your truncheon would help. rolling on the floor laughing laugh rolling on the floor laughing

I have worked in the public sector and neither is beter than the other in my experience.

I've had plenty of encounters with the police and not one of them ended well. I should say first that I've never done drugs, never drank and drove, never even got a speeding ticket. I've never done anything illegal.
Now... When I am driving, I get pulled over roughly every six months. Why? I don't know. They usually make something up like a head/tail light out even though it's obviously not. I'm not the only one either, they do it to my family and friends all the time too.

Back in 1999 my hometown was destroyed by a tornado. I was there roughly five minutes after it happened, helping out any way I could. When the police finally got there they wouldn't do anything to help and yelled at anyone who tried.

A few years ago my Grandfather had a massive heart attack, almost died. The people in the ambulance told us we could follow them in our van. Outside of the town of Kalkaska we were pulled over by a state trooper and he threatened to take all of us in the van to jail because we were speeding to follow the ambulance. Not joking in the slightest.

Last year my dog broke off his chain and got hung on a stump in the woods while I wasn't hope. Someone found him and called the police. They and the DNR came out and one or the other shot him.

One last note. I had a coworker, a sweet woman with a baby girl. Her boyfriend beat terribly. She got a restraining order and still he kept coming around, forcing his way into her home and beating her. The police wouldn't do a damn thing about it.

So yeah, I personally have very little respect or use for the police, only for the fact that they hold the ability to take my freedom away. They've never helped me or anyone I know, they've only hurt and harassed.
