guiriman: so to sum up what's been said ... women sometimes play down their femininity to avoid other women's jealousy ... nothing to do with men ...men are once again a side dish on the table of life .. Is that a fair summary?m ..

Not in my case i play down my feminity in some cases when i work coz u dont need googling eyes when ur trying to work and pinches on the butt dont go down well either. but then again its the point of dressing apropriatly for the job you do.

wimmin people ... you are looking everyday more like truck drivers .. not a criticism .. just an observation ... please put femininity back into fashion .. you were given legs .. show them ..
where is this tendency towards a maculine look coming from? ..[/quote I am most of the time in jeans or trousers at work as sometimes i have to climb up on a ladder to show gifts from a high shelf to my clients. It's more comfortable than wearing a skirt.

Hi!
For me, it all depends on when or where I am on a particular place or time. On my free time, I do wear jeans or casual pants as I feel more at ease that way. I do consider myself a very feminine person, though; and I like wearing dresses and skirts, too. However, when I go to my job, I wear pantsuits or more classical clothes. When there are more formal gatherings, I tend to wear a pantsuit to blend in with the men. In the jobfront, it seems you are taken more seriously when you dress in a more professional manner. But ultimately, it is more the way you conduct yourself, no matter what kind of job you have or no matter where you are, that make people respect you.
Anyway, I prefer to wear a dress or a skirt (with a nice feminine blouse) when I go out on a date. No need to blend in, I guess..

you see Am, this sentence is very interesting ...it seems you are taken more seriously when you dress in a more professional manner ... does that mean less like a woman and more ;ike a man?
I can´t answer for Amaryllis, but dressing in a professional manner for a woman, does not mean dressing like a man at all.
I wouldn´t sit in front of my students wearing a low cut top, just as the male teachers here wouldn´t teach wearing shorts or vests.
A trouser suit with a crisp blouse looks professional and feminine in my opinion. Especially if it is accentuated by a neck scarf or some nice jewellery.

What I mean to say is, they look at you at what you have to say or what you can contribute to the organization, your abilities and asset as an employee, and not at your other assets as a woman. Of course, it never hurts to see both, but I think it depends on what is more important to you. For me, I'd like to take credit for what I can do as an employee and not for the way I look.

so you prefer to dress less glam at work because it's more comfortable ... I can see that .. do you think that in the past women were more prepared to put more effort into their beauty than they are today? Modern women don't want so much to be beautiful but comfortable .. perfectly reasonable desire... but in one way I think it's a pity tho..

Guiri with me it works dealing day by day as desired. When i wear a skirt for work it's only when i am dealing with the cash register where i don't move a lot. But working in sales it's important to be flexible wearing trousers or in this case jeans since i don't wear a uniform. But on the other hand i prefer wearing skirt or dress sometime in the weekend...
