RayfromUSA: I don't know where in the world people think that the money for such programs is going to come from.

It's the same as believing that Socialized Medicine is going to "reduce health costs".

It's crazy to think that the government is paying for building new schools.

It's actually a smart investment for our future. The Green Sector will snowball and that's where the next boom is coming from. Plus it's eco...a no brainer for safely and soundly investing for the future.

It's a great start. Nobody else is stepping up right now to do this for all the schools that will be involved. Which venture capitalist is willing to do this?

This is long term thinking and not the typical band-aid solution that the establishment has miserably failed with over and over again.

Good4U2: Is that a CAL hat your wearing. Are you a Berkley grad? The public schools in this country are the toilet. Look where we rank and you may be surprise and hopefully disappointed. The infastructure may be bad granted because of poor past management practices but not from lack of funding. The bigger problem in my view is what children are learning today in our public schools are also substandard compared to the rest of the worlds Major industrial countries. Dont you think we should be taking a graded approach on spending. Just throwing money at something is not a fix ... In many cases its a waste. We have green schools as we are turning our kids into vegatables that will not be able to compete in a global economy...

Berkeley all the waycheering

Yes, hopefully the next step is to change the way we educate our children. Not an easy task at all considering the intricacy of this situation. I don't see that happening for a while. I have mentioned that all the institutions need a complete overhaul. That's going to take some time...slowly but surely.

I do not see this spending for green schools as a waste. I see it as a smart investment.

I do not support all the spending that is going on btw...but I do fully endorse this one. Obama can only do so much and does not have magical powers. We the people are the ones with magical powers...daydream

You can still invest Indy...search is always your friend. There are plenty of private green tech companies who would love your help to change things...and make money of course. lol

I'm sure there are plenty of Americans who are angry about being forced to pay for the waridea

You all need to check where the 500ton of Saddam Hussien yellow cake went to....and.....what type of nuclear isotope it turns into
prior to saying nuclear is a primitive energy production method.

Making nuclear isotopes via this technology has been changed in the last four years.

They have pics on the isotope pellets be held by finger tips with out gloves or shielding.

I think that we are soon coming to a nuclear reactor that cannot go critical mass......e.g. Jane Fonda's China Syndrome.....

What I would like to see...is when you pay your taxes, you get to designate where in the government the money goes. That would be interesting.

cheering Now there's a TRULY revolutionary notion. Tossing govt. money at a problem, often symbolically, is a tried and false solution, generally.

I've always thought that's the way it should be.

I'd want 50% to defense, 30% to infrastructure, 15% to social services type items and 5% to misc.

I'm sure we will have the power to do this eventually down the road. It all depends on the younger generations and how they vote in the future and how much change they really want to accomplish.
