Anyone had it?

My son noticed a yellow discolouring on his big toe nail three months ago and I ordered him to get it looked at immediately.

He did, and yes, it is toenail fungus.

This stuff can take yonks to grow out, I have been told by my chiropodist as I asked her.

He has had to file the nail right down to avoid the thickening of the nail which will stop growing and hopefully the fungus with the treatment will grow out and the nail will recover.

So, I am pleased that I made him go, but honestly folks, any discolouration of nails needs to be checked.

I have seen some nasty pictures of untreated nail fungus.

Hallo Pat.

How are you?

One thing I am is never bored.

Never! I am never bored of people, and when my son has something such as nail fungus, I take it seriously.

Never fear when Smoky is near! I know this subject very well.

As a dancer, anything to do with the feet is a most serious subject.

I have known people who`s doctor takes off the nail, even some who`ve had the end of their toe amputed to the first knuckle!

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR is the cure! At least every second day, preferable EVERY day, soak your feet in a basin of warm water to which you`ve added about 100ml of Apple Cider Vinegar. Squash the toenail up and down to suck in the water.

After that you rub in, every time you`ve showered/bathed, a mixture you make up in a 50ml (+-) bottle of Castor Oil to which you add 2 drops of Tea Tree Oil.

And if the nail has thickened before you treated it - keep it from thickening further by gently sanding it down with a fine water paper.

DISINFECT ALL NAIL APPARATUS EVERY TIME YOU USE THEM! (nailfiles, clippers, etc)

BOIL ALL FACECLOTHS used in shower/bath (to disinfect them)

Good.

It's a toughie, but thanks for your support.

But smoky is here now and she knows where I am coming from.

Might be a source of mirth for some, but for my boy it worried him.

Ja? So I take it seriously.

Hi smoky.

Yes, he has been advised as you have written. At the moment, he has a small area and his foot specialist at his acamdemy told him that it was good he noticed it so early. But of course, I have been like a child wielding a sword and reading up about it and it has terrified me.

He has been given the fine water paper, some drops to put into the nail and not to wear anything for hours on his foot with the affected toe.

He has been told to throw the water paper away after each filing as the nail has thickened somewhat. I will pack some Apple Cidar Vinegar for him and tell him to do that.

The discolouration covers about a quarter of his nail, he plays alot of sport and of course is in communal showers alot.

He has been told to not wear trainers and at the moment it is not too unsightly so he can keep the foot exposed to the air.

He has a good understanding of health around the feet as he is training along his golf to be a sports physio so all in all I am pleased he recognised it early.

Thanks lovely.

Thanks Sommer, for your acknowledgement.

Something else.... Fungus usually attacks when the bodys PH is unbalanced. Apple Cider vinegar restores the natural acid balance ..... a spoonful in half a glass of water in the mornings aids this very well.cheers

Most people should take the vinegar, as our bodies can only benefit.

Ha, you have just brought me to say what I was going to.

About the body's PH balance being iffy.

A change in diet, a new climate, all has an affect on one's system.

I know that. Remember last summer, when I had my leg swelling problem and my weight tumbled? Even though I had been here for a year previously, I returned to the UK, for three months and the stress of what I was going through had me tied up in knots, my leg swelled, I dropped to 54 kilos and I could not function at all, Jan, Imma and Flower were here, I am not sure if you were.

It took me until two months ago to understand what that was about when I had another health issue.

So the smallest thing can upset our balance and the chemicals in our body and my son is not suffering, however had he not been astute enough to deal with it, he could have suffered later.

Hi Radders...

I am liking the sound of this vinegar.

Here in Austria, I am not sure about CH, but if you have a temperature as I did last year, my landlady smothered me in cream cheese, Topfen.

And god, while it made a mess of my bed linen, it damn well worked.

For me too.

I looked at her scandalized.

But she made me, like when she made me buy vests, pretty ones of course, she said you will have problems in later life without proper unterhosen and make sure it is good stuff, not the cheap stuff that changes shape when it comes out of the dryer.

Smart woman my landlady.

Hi Aomemr!

Isn't Topfen wonderful? I laughed at it when I saw everyone putting Topfen on their horses' lumps and bumps and swellings - but it sure worked much better than the expensive lotions and gels - much faster too! Then I tried it on my own bumps and swellings - brilliant! I've not tried it for fever - but I imagine it would be good for that too - it just sucks the heat out of anything!

never had it myself, but having beenin the medical/pharmaceutical industry for the last 16 years, no funghi is too be laughed at. It is serious stuff. The worst offender these days is stress, it causes all sorts of ailments that never existed years ago.
