I work in the holiday industry and the effects for small business's here is evident.
Tourists are down and the ones that are coming just don't have the money to spend as they used to, so small bars are closing and staff being laid off or working for peanuts.

Money is so tight that when my little cousin lost his tooth, my uncle gave him a dollar for it. Then that night he slipped into the room and stole the doolar back. The next morning my uncle made my cousin go without breakfast because he had lost the dollar. Seventeen kids a year adds up to a lot of savings during the year!

I'm embarrassed to say that it hasn't. I still have my job, a good salary, an apartment, still get my nails and hair done, and able to save money in the bank.

Yeah....this little island depends heavily on tourism....on a purely amateur basis, I look around me, and I see a LOT less tourist compared to last year...there are a couple of empty stores at the end of the street that were occupied last year..

I lost 2 after care, 2 all day. That adds up to four kids. After care is 65.00 week each, the other two all day were 85.00 a week each. Then I lost my every other Saturday gig, which was 340.00 dollars for that one day. I say when you add it up, I got hit hard.

It hasn't affected me either. But I think Nebraska in general has flown under the radar so far.

My work has certainly seen the effects of it too. Don't know right now what the rest of this year will hold.......
