Major stigma!!!

If a man sits on his own in a pub..he is just there for a quiet pint.
If a woman sits on her own in a pub.. she was stood up so she must be gagging for it! Or she touting for business.

Did anyone ever notice that if you meet a mother in a pub without her husband/partner people ALWAYS ask..who has the kids tonight?

Yet nobody ever asks a father this!!

dunno dunno dunno

scribbler83: It's true and it's absolute nonsense. Why should it be any different for women?

It shouldn't but it is unfortunately. Things are changing with each generation though.

My grandmother would never have been in a pub in her life.

My mother would go into a pub with my dad.. on their own or with other couples..but would never have a girls night out in a pub. Girls nights were Tupperware parties.

I go to pubs with other women or in mixed company.

The next generation of women may manage to break the stigma and go to pubs on their own.

Progress!!!

I think it depends on your age. The younger you are the less relevant online dating is because a lot of folk around you in work/college, pubs, social circle etc will also be single.

However, I find the older I get the more and more women I meet are already in relationships and I get more tired of going to pubs and clubs.

It's tough to met that mythical 'special someone' in any arena of life and online is no different. The only advantages I think are that at least you know those on dating sites are single and looking (or they should be otherwise what's the point?!).

That's my tuppence anyhow.

I agree with Ruby - good post..thumbs up

However, I find that first, emboldened paragraph interesting. What you say SHOULD be the case, but I have noticed quite clearly that the majority of the more recently joined members are in their 20s generally. There seems to be an influx of them over recent weeks.

I had wondered about this, and why they were looking to date online, rather than look in the areas you stated. When I was in my 20s, certainly on a Friday or Saturday night, I was out and about meeting people, not sat at home!!dunno

The thing is PB they're all finished up at college now for the Summer and between recessionary times and no Summer jobs available they can entertain themselves here whilst looking for dates...JMO
