I've been on both sides of the fence on this, over the years. What I've now found is that the intimacy, the growth of love, the strengthening of a relationship can really only be found in a monogamous one, for me, anyway.
I've done the multiple partners thing, lived with two women in an "open" relationship and found that there's no satisfaction in a polygamous lifestyle. After awhile jealousies develop, people grow apart, or don't want to remain in that type of lifestyle.
I relate it to my music. I play several instruments, but really only play well when it's one instrument at a time. If I try to play several at once, I get a lot of noise but not much good music!
