Starting to smoke was without a doubt the worst day's work I've ever done. 37 years now and at 30p a packet out here the price is not punitive.

Good luck Duncan though I suspect that in these recessionary times that this is just a con to bankrupt the toothfairy.laugh
I was fortunate enough to be able to quit smoking last October. The time was right for me I guess but after 30 years of 20 B&H a day, I didn't really have any craving. The devil looks after his own I guess!devil

Duncan well done for posting this up. My father started smoking when he was 8 years of age and he gave up when he was 32. He would smoke an average of 20-30 a day plus maybe 2 or 3 cigars a day as well. He is glad that he gave up as he has some minor health problems now that would have been major if he still smoked. He is now a rabid anti smoker and would kill any of us if he caught us smoking. I have only smoked one cigarette in my life and it did nothing at all for me. I used to smoke the odd cigar every now and again but I haven't had one in 8 years. To jenniem are you naive?. Now you know what smoking can do to you and having heard what Duncan is going through you still prefer cigs to your teeth. You may come to regret saying that.

If my father can quit then anyone can so if you are thinking about it do it. FF congrats on still being off the smokes. We are all proud of ya.

readyornot0: and every one who says they dont .... well listen to some one who will be honest Its a killer I have had to have all my teeth removed through gum problems its also loaded my lungs to the point of acute bronchitus and possable lung cancer so tomorrow is a big day for me the rest of my teeth are being removed so come on stop smoking its for the best >>>>>>>>>

I have been thinking stronly about quitting. It is a killer and has killed people i love. Its so hard tho. If i had the money to spend on a months supply of nicoteine patches i would but il have to do the old fashioned way. Plus i play alot of football so it would benifit me more to quit. Any good old fasionhed ways to quit?

I hope everything goes ok for you today RON hug

On another note as a non smoker it can be an issue snogging a smoker personally I would prefer a non smoker an I know alot of other non smokers feel the same.

So to anyone trying to give it up fair play to you and stick with it, in the long run it will be worth it wave

type into your browser stop smoking .ie there is lots of great advice but i does require a life style change things you never thought of doing [my house has never been cleaner lol and the dog is knackered with the constant walking ] still its worth it I put the price of a pack of cigs on the mantle piece every day and after about 10 days i had enough to buy a new camera and thats a good incentive for me
