NEVER use petroleum jelly (Vaseline) on brake parts!
The rubber seals and cups used on brake parts will swell when they come in contact with any petroleum product, so if you can't find a suitable brake part lubricant, use regular KY, it's actually safe to use.
I'm not kidding, and this is for your own safety, as well as the safety of others.
One night a redneck couple were in the mood but realized they had run out of vaseline, so the man quickly went in search for a substitute and found a can of 3in1 Oil. Long story short, nine months later they had triplets. Thinking back after their birth he said to his wife, "Thank God I didn't find the WD-40 that night".
