Yep,its been my dream for a longtime to build one from scratch, went today and priced all the stuff I'll be needing and by the end of the month I'll be on my way to building my baby. I've never done it before but I been researching and I've already called my partner in crime buddy and told her to get ready cause we are gonna do this thing. I'm pretty excited applause and think its gonna be a great project, not into gaming so nothing fancy for me but a machine that can do just the essential stuff. Would really welcome any advice from you guys that have done it before for a first timer.grin

You go girl, great project indeed!

Don't look at me for advice though, I never made it past taking apart my computer... and getting very strange looks in the repair shop later laugh

Have no fear I will be reporting back on my adventure in computer geeking.laugh The guy at the store said it takes them about 15 minutes to put together one of those babies, I've dismantled an old one and been peeking around to see what going on in there, I think it should be fun, might take us a couple of hours, (my friend is even less geeky than me)but I'm hoping to do it in an hour.please please I'm looking forward to running around like a mad scientist shouting "Its Alive!"rolling on the floor laughing

1) know what OS you are gonna use and how to load it...thats a biggy..know how to use BIOS.

2) the power supply....dont get one that is too big or def not too small...if you dont know what I am talking about...i wouldnt build this thing yourself..you may need help sizing it.

You'll do fine. It's no worse than hooking up a DVD player and TV when you get right down to it.

A little advice though. Do the research on the parts before you buy them. Some motherboards and hard drives are more prone to trouble than others.

Avoid buying grey market. There is a very good reason it is second string almost every time. I'd buy used first.

Don't try to save money on the CPU and case fans. Cooking an expensive CPU or motherboard negates the $10 you saved on the fan and more.

Likewise don't skimp on RAM. Buy a good brand from a trustworthy seller. Much of the cheap stuff is trash.

Freeware and shareware are the way to fly on aplications. Give me a yell with what you need and I will send download links.
Have fun.

Thanks. It'll be a great learning experience. Just got to locate one of them Static Bracelet thingy, if I destroy anything like the new hard drive you'll probably hear the screaming and bawling from where you are.rolling on the floor laughing
